Title: The Goal of this Competition Post by K`Hare totlh on Jan 14th, 2005, 10:43am The goal of each player in this simm should not be to win the competition. That should be the goal of each character, or, if the character knows his chances are not good, his goal should be to learn what he can so he wins in the future. The goal of each player here should be to have fun and to grow their character in a way that they never would have otherwise. In character, have your characer meet new people, make friendships or rivalries, and continue that relationship into the future. After the tourney you can continue to communicate in character and knwothat next year, you will meet up again. This simm is all about the story and the characters. The action is intended to be the tournament. The first year we had a big event interrupt the competition and it was OK, but it seemed to rob something from the focus. Imagine this is like a convention and you encounter people you know from past jobs or other conventions. You go out for a meal and catch up or make new friends. For me the rule is this: if you do something that isn't part of the competition it should be fun for you, dramatic for your character, and not require that every other player read your post and react. So no blowing up a shuttle and destroying one of the arenas. There will be so much posting you will miss some stuff and have to pick and choose what to follow so let the event change your character, but don't insist that your character changes the event [except by winning matches of course (:}.] |
