Title: Arrival: FADM Wolfe Post by FADM Tomas Wolfe on Feb 7th, 2005, 8:37pm On > USS Misha > Enroute to XFY Tomas had a funny thought that most of the competitors heading to XFY right now were all probably doing something very different then he was. They were probably all mediating, or practicing, or studying their opponents. Here Tomas was, FADM – XO of the federation’s 4th Fleet, with his legs thrown over the side of the chair, listening to some music and reading a book from earth’s past – The Gunslinger by Stephen King. It wasn’t that he wasn’t taking this tournament serious, anyone that knew Wolfe knew he was fiercely competitive. But with everything that had been going on lately in his life as far as Star Fleet went, he was finally looking forward to a vacation. It was hard not to think back and laugh at how fate had twisted things for him. Once the proud Commanding Officer of TF86, the 4th Fleet’s pride – at least in Wolfe’s mind, then on the verge of total retirement from service. And now the Bravo Fleet’s XO, and a Fleet Admiral. Tomas wasn’t going to sit there and lie to himself. He knew that this wasn’t all exactly a vacation. There was no such thing for a person in his position. The XFY CO was TF 44’s CO, his replacement in 86 was also supposed to be at the competition. There in deed would be some “work” to do as well. Tomas turned toward the back of the Delta Flyer class runabout when he heard a noise and smiled. That’s probably why his fiancée insisted on coming along, to make sure he did his best to get as much free time as possible. And hopefully to cheer him on to victory. To be sure, rest and all that was okay, but Tomas didn’t want to walk away with anything but first place. Some people might be okay with second place, but to Tomas, that was nothing more then the first loser. And Tomas despised losing. To say he was proud would be an understatement. Which he admitted was one of his flaws, one that he was determined to let an opponent exploit. The door in the back of the flyer slide open, and Ro – Aurora Melanie McCloud, stepped out drying her hair. Ro: We almost there yet love? Wolfe: *shaking his head* Yeah, we’ll be dropping out of warp in a few minutes. I still can’t believe you modified the ship to create a shower. Ro: *smiling* Well, it was going to be a long ride. We didn’t want to show up looking, and SMELLING like we’ve been cooped up on this runabout for 3 days now would we? But I still say I could of easily added a hot tub as well. Wolfe: *laughing and pulling her down into his arms* I know you could of babe, you’re a very “proficient” engineer. But that would of definitely have the crew talking when we got back. Ro: *trying to look insulted, but failing* Proficient? If it wasn’t for me, you and the Wildcat would have been left adrift more times then I could count! Wolfe: *bending down to kiss her on the cheek* Yeah, I’ve got to admit, you have that special touch to keep my warp core running smoothly. Tomas grinned at her as the computer beeped. Ro got up and took a seat at the tactical station as Tomas sat up correctly in the pilot’s seat. Wolfe: We’re here. Dropping out of Warp now. As they reemerged into “normal” space, XFY filled the window of the Misha. Soon the comm beeped as the station contacted them. Ro hit the button to put it on speaker. XFY controller: Welcome to Xavier Fleet Yards FADM Wolfe. We can autodock you if you wish. Wolfe: That’s okay Xavier, the kids of the Wildcat don’t let me fly enough as it is, I prefer to take her in myself. Controller: We figured as much sir. Your course has been sent to your ship. Per your instructions, no one will be waiting to greet you, though our Admiral isn’t too happy with that. Your quarters are ready and waiting as well sir. Hope you enjoy your stay. Wolfe: Thank you Xavier, Misha out. McCloud: Oh, no pomp and ceremony? Wolfe: You know how I hate that stuff, and you told me to keep to the vacation idea. As always, I’m at your service. *Tomas playfully bowed his head in Ro’s direction.* McCloud: Oh, remember that when we’ve got young one’s running around. She couldn’t contain her laughter when Tomas’s face suddenly got white, as if he’d seen a ghost. Bringing up kids always did that to him for some reason. The big, bad warrior… afraid of becoming a father. It didn’t take long for them to dock at the star base. They didn’t have a lot of baggage to carry off to their VIP quarters either. Tomas had a bag and Aurora had two. But Tomas also carried his Katana and his betleH. The house of Terlek gave him this one as a sign of their gratitude for the honor he had brought to their family. They had always gone out of their way to make him feel welcomed into their house, even with Tomas being on a mixed heritage. The couple got to their quarters and started to settle in. There would be time to socialize later. off: |
