Title: A Room For A View Post by Loj_Hartson on Feb 8th, 2005, 2:00pm ON: <Xavier Fleet Yards> <One of the Designated Quarters for Participants> The room was designed in similar fashion to his own but was significantly bare with regards to items that non-Klingons would deem to be necessities. He could have stayed in his own quarters aboard Xavier but elected otherwise to bunk with the participants. On any normal day Loj’s excuse was that he wanted to feel as if he was a part of the contingent of competitors. Now however, being a part of anything was not high on the list of things he wanted. Setting his duffel bag down by the side of one of the two beds in the room, he laid the cloth wrapped betleH that was slung on his back down upon the mattress. Loj brought no yan this time round and though it made little difference as the weapon was only a few decks away, it was yet another in a string of things he cared not for any association to. Bringing his massive form to sit upon the mattress, he stared out to the stars with glazed eyes before focusing his vision upon the weapon that laid beside him. Undoing the worn cloth that covered the blade, he brought it up before him to inspect its sharpness. He had washed and disinfected the betleH numerous times through means of his own concoction. And Loj knew as much that stains of such nature would never truly be removed. Like a bear tasting honey for the first time, the weapon’s hunger would never be satiated. Much like how his yearning would never be met – more so now than ever. Grabbing the cloth that once wrapped the custom made blade, he began wiping the already clean surfaces of said weapon, while his eyes focused upon the sparkling lights from faraway systems. There would come a time when he would need to part with this weapon. To place it upon a wall where it would meet others that shared the same hunger as is required in such tournaments. For now, he sought only to wipe it and have his thoughts linger far away. Much like those stars. OFF: Lieutenant Loj Hartson Head of Spacecraft Operations Xavier Fleet Yards |
Title: Re: A Room For A View Post by Loj_Hartson on Feb 9th, 2005, 4:09am ON: <Wall of betleH Area> Standing before the large makeshift yet seemingly permanent wall that would house all competitors owned betleH in this year's tourney, he noticed that there had been a good number of arrivals already, with his competitor for the qualifying rounds already having placed his betleH in its designated slot. There was little need for Loj to linger there for too long as a steady stream of competitors and visitors already made the place more crowded than it should be. Without much ceremony, he removed the cloth that covered the weapon's blade and placed his betleH horizontally on the wall. Turning away, he paid little heed to those eyes that examined him. There would be time yet to gouge them out. For now, he had stuff to unpack back in his quarters and hope for a none too intruding bunkmate. Otherwise he'd have more than eye-gouging to do. OFF: Lieutenant Loj Hartson Head of Spacecraft Ops Xavier Fleet Yards |
Title: Re: A Room For A View Post by Ing The Puny on Feb 9th, 2005, 4:34pm <Loj and Ing's room> When Loj returned to his room, he found a small Klingon sitting on the other bunk. Discarded armor littered his side of the room, and he had spread out a set of clothing - wet from the smell of it - to dry. The little guy was inspecting a nasty scabbed over slash on his foot, it looked like the bandage had gotten wet and he was in the process of changing it. To complete the image, his hair was wet as well, and it looked like he had a few more old cuts on his head as well. With a glance at Loj, Ing reached down and cleared his boots and a few pieces of armor from the space between the beds and tossed it over the other side of his bed out of Loj's way. Ing casually drew his Daqtagh and started measuring a length of gauze to cut with it in order to make a new bandage for his foot, keeping an eye on Loj. OFF: Ing The Puny Science Officer IKS Hegh'ta / KDB |
Title: Re: A Room For A View Post by Loj_Hartson on Feb 10th, 2005, 4:07am ON: A short glance was all the large half-Klingon gave to whomever it was that chose to share his bunk. The Daqtagh confirmed, if not his attire, that this person was not of Starfleet though slightly small in size to be of the Empire's forces. Then again, looks were always deceiving. Casually, Loj made way to his bed, chancing the possibility that that Daqtagh would find its way into his back. All choices are laced with chances either way. Resting his form atop its mattresses, half glazed eyes now staring at what would appear to be, his bunkmate. Perhaps there would be no rest for either today and for the days following as each scrutinized the other in near similar fashion. OFF: Lieutenant Loj Hartson Head of Spacecraft Ops Xavier Fleet Yards |
Title: Re: A Room For A View Post by Ing The Puny on Feb 10th, 2005, 5:12pm Ing proceeded to put a new, dry bandage on his foot, continuing the pretense that the dagger was solely a tool for helping with that job and served no secondary purpose in this situation. Once the bandage was changed, he took out a couple cloths and some oil and began cleaning and oiling his gear, making sure it suffered no ill effects from having gotten wet. The silence between them dragged on. OFF: I assume Loj will ask him something about how he got himself so thoroughly soaked. At which point, Ing would answer something like: "I visited the arctic habitat," Ing explained, "And learned something about snow: As it melts, the water gets into everything." |
Title: Re: A Room For A View Post by Loj_Hartson on Feb 10th, 2005, 5:47pm Loj's eyebrow quirked slightly as he studied this Klingon's movements, more out of curiosity than anything else. And no, his size had nothing to do with it. Not for the most part anyway. Loj: I didn't know Klingons liked to play in the rain. OFF: Well, gosh darn it he did :D |

Title: Re: A Room For A View Post by Loj_Hartson on Feb 10th, 2005, 6:09pm Loj: "Figures." Tilting his head, the half-Klingon Lieutenant began studying this rather small version of what a Klingon should be before realigning his head to a more comfortable position. Loj: "I am Lieutenant Loj Hartson of Xavier Fleet Yards. Are you a competitor here or merely here to place bets and experience....... snow." OFF: tageth |
Title: Re: A Room For A View Post by Ing The Puny on Feb 10th, 2005, 6:18pm Ing glanced at Loj. "Neither," he said curtly. "My name is Ing. I am one of the crew of the IKS Montgomery Scott, the ship of K'Hare totlh, one of the judges for the competition." Ing looked Loj over again. "You are in Starfleet?" OFF: Ing is not a Klingon name. And "Montgomery Scott" is a most unusual name for an IKS (Imperial Klingon) ship |
Title: Re: A Room For A View Post by Loj_Hartson on Feb 10th, 2005, 6:50pm Loj pondered on how to respond to that question. It was like numerous double edged blades placed precariously around his form. One wrong move and he'd find a gash he did not need. And the irony was that only he would feel and know it. "Yes." That was as best a reply he could muster and had this Ing been a competitor he might have ignored the question completely. "One of K'Hare's students I presume." He said, trying to divert the topic. "Either way, I feel it is best that we prepare for the tournament's opening ceremony, which is in a few hours. Competitor or not, all guests and associated parties are to attend it." He continued before rising from his bed. "Perhaps...." Loj almost always ended conversations with new acquaintances with a '...we'll talk again some time' but his leanings towards such niceties had long since diminished. There were other more important things to take care of and most of it concerning his own self. With barely a nod or a even a smile the large half-Klingon strode out of the room, heralded only by the soft swooshing of the quarters' doors closing behind him. OFF: Add your reactions if you wish to but Loj's part is done. And yeah, Ing isn't a Klingon name, so is Loj (not a Klingon name that is) and yeah the Montgomerry Scott is a very weird IKS name but sadly my character's got too much on his mind at this point in time. Maybe we could expand more on those in later exchanges. |
Title: Re: A Room For A View Post by Ing The Puny on Feb 10th, 2005, 8:01pm Ing didn't react to Loj walking out of the room in the middle of a sentence. Not talking was just fine with him. So was having the room to himself. Ing had the opening ceremony to attend, followed by the big dinner to honor the meH'Haj. So he continued to prepare by polishing his gear. OFF: And that's a wrap on this scene. |
