Title: Re: Before the Call

ON:

Ta'pez was getting ready to leave, the welcoming Ceremonies were about to start and he didn’t want to miss them.  He got up and announced his departure with the other doing the same or promising to do soon.

G'Trell was still deep in thought as she walked the last lengths to the bar.  She wanted to put this together,  to have it make since.  She walked through the door and literally ran into Ta'pez.

G'Trell stepped back" Oh my I am sorry."

"Greetings G'Trell."

"G...greetings" she stumbled over the word a little.

Ta'pez said.  He looked her and then said, " You seem to be lost in thought, i am sure that you had good reason".

" I guess so.  I just came from a bout that I found puzzling to say the least."

Ta'pez didnt know what to say to that. "Would you do me the honor and join me in attending the opening ceremonies?" Ta'pez said finally

G'Trell regained herself and nodded "The honor is mine."  She stole a glance at K'Vok who was not to far behind.

Ta'pez motioned  towards the hall we. "Shall we then."  Gtrell nodded and they then started down the corridor with K'vok following at a respectful distance allowing for his HoD to enjoy the company his privacy while allowing K'vok to fulfill his duty as bodyguard.

G'Trell smiled at the nearness of her new friend.  But kept her attention with Tapez.  Perhaps he could help her figure a few things out. " I am glad to have caught up with you again.  I feared we wouldn't see each other before the ceremony."

Ta'pez nodded. "Indeed there is so much we have to take care of " Ta'pez  replied.

" I am honored that you have found a place for me on your ship.  I only hope that I might prove myself worthy in the times to come."

" I do not extend the offer to anybody, I can assure I have taken your worth into consideration,  no charity was given to you when I offered you the position."
Ta'pez: " The one thing i have wondered  is your motivation, why did you leave the Marines."

G'Trell frowned.  "That was a difficult decision.  I guess it was a act of cowardice really.  For I was escaping a dishonor brought onto me by anther. I knew if I stayed I would kill them and that would eventually end my career"

" So I requested a transfer."

Ta'pez listened. " I will not judge  you for that. It would not be fair to do so, a Klingon among federation often cannot follow his path without breaking onto the chains of their alien culture."

G'Trell was relived at his words.  She let out a breath she had not realized she was holding.  Her mind swam around F'Larn.  Which brought her back to the bout she had just had.  She sighed a sigh coming from her toes.  Confused again.

Ta'pez looked at her for a moment. "I will tell you something G'trell, I do not often tell it to others but it seems I should tell you today."

They were silent for a moment as they passed several star base inhabitants.

G'Trell’s attention shifted to him immediately.

He shifted his gaze in front of him. "I am of the House of Chang by choice.  Some talk  ill of me and my House, so I am very familiar with  the bitter fruit that you speak of" they kept walking and Ta'pez continued. "The crew I have here  are loyal to me for one reason."

G'Trell was not sure what to say.

"What reason is that?"

He turned his face towards him. " I do not care what you have done before, where you have been, all it matters is that you are here and that you loyal to "me" and the "crew"."

G'Trell nodded

Ta'pez threw a look at K'vok. "Your friend K'vok here was placed in a mental institution for no other reason then the fact that he needed help."

" I know well of the sting of dishonor I swear I will never bring it upon you or your house as it was done to me."

"Of that I have no doubt." Ta'pez said.

She looked back at K'Vok and smiled at him.  Not really feeling the smile but not wanting to show her real feelings.  Being reminded of F'Larn was like getting 50 lashes in a public square the pain came first then the humiliation. The pain he had done was still fresh and deep.  A clean kill as her foster sister would have said.  She swallowed the urge to excuse her self.  But made a note to go back to the training room before she burst.  That’s what made the thoughts of M'Rek and T'lai confusing and a little frightening.  She wondered briefly if she had pressed F’Larn to a point and brought the shame on her self.

Ta'pez entered the turbolift  and the others followed. In silence they stood as the lift took them towards the deck the ceremony was to be held.
