Title: Romulan + Blue + Intoxicating = ?
Post by Ing The Puny on Feb 11th, 2005, 3:07pm

After finally seeing K'Hare released from custody with everyone convinced he was the proper version of himself, Ing considered what to do next.

Most people would be heading for The Legion or similar establishments, where there would be boisterous crowds getting drunk on bloodwine. Neither crowds nor drunkenness appealed to Ing, but he was curious to see what the followup reactions to the revelation of K'Hare's romulan heritage were. No doubt K'Hare himself would be found in one of the bars, probably breaking out one of the kegs of his special family brew they had brought over on the Montgomery Scott.

Suddenly a thought hit Ing. K'Hare's special family brew of bloodwine was famous (or infamous) for the highly intoxicating molasses-like blue substance mixed within. But K'Hare's family was part romulan. Ing suddenly connected this to something else that was famous for being romulan and blue and highly intoxicating.

Ing checked with the starbase's computer to be sure Loj wasn't back in their room as he hurried back there. Once inside, he accessed the computer terminal to see if he could confirm his hunch. At first, Ing was surprised that he had to enter some security access codes to find out what he wanted, but then he realized that Starfleet wasn't going to allow just anyone to learn how to produce a contraband substance simply by looking it up in the computer library. Soon enough, Ing was staring at a picture of a familiar plant with dark blue berries and flat, almost oval leaves. The Hegh'ta had recently undertaken a secret mission into Romulan space to retrieve several such plants from what Ing was certain was K'Hare's homeworld - plants which K'Hare had used to produce a number of barrels of his special family brew.

Ing logged off the computer and decided to try to find that party after all. He wondered what station security would do if they ever learned that K'Hare was serving what essentially amounted to bloodwine spiked with a condensed form of romulan ale.

OFF:

A bold post by Ing.  The guess was good... posting that it was the answer... that shows moxie!

But he is correct.  I just had to post so that everyone familiar with the KDB plot knows he didn't ask me before posting this.

And Ness, Saji... that is how you get a tribble point.

OFF:
I may not have been told what was the case, but I know K'Hare... Since he is such an exemplar of what Qol calls an 'onion', no one had to tell me for me to know the truth!

;D

Edit: That tribble point will look great on my mantle next to the Chang Dagger of Shame (http://www.batlh.com/cgi-bin/betleHIII/YaBB.pl?board=genChat;action=display;num=1106337397) award I've already picked up in this tournament!

OFF:

The entry for the plant should also note that unprocessed, the berries are poisonous to most species.  Its part of the intoxicating effect.  It's really a neurotoxin.
