Title: Ta'pez vs G'trell - Say'moHchu' may' 'Iw.
Post by Ta`pez HoD on Feb 15th, 2005, 10:35am

G’Trell stepped into the ring, her heart was drumming like never before, her pulse pounding in her ears drowning out the cheers of the surrounding warriors.  She raised her eyes up taking in the grand site of HoD Tapez.  The fit of his armor the way he stood  measuring him up inch by inch.  These would all be critical if she wanted to win or at least prove herself to her new HoD.  He was strong she realized,  but his armor would weigh him down.  He was taller than her which meant he would be forced to stick to low attacks to be effective.  She took a stance that not quite offence but nor was it defense as well.  She nodded to him.

G’Trell: First blood will come to soon in this match.  What say you to a knock out match?

Ta’pez: It is as you say,  knockout is acceptable.

G’Trell smiled and bounced slightly on her feet.  She felt her soul stir with want she licked her lips determined to win this she had worked to hard over the last year to lose.

Tapez loosed himself by  spinning his blade against an unseen opponent, what was a show of force to some was actually a finely tuned warm up exercise.

The Klingon referee stepped outside of bounds and called  out: Ta'pez vs G'trell   Knockout match.

The crowds went wild as they  heard the announcement. This was indeed one of the closest and most exiting matches  of the first round. Both G'trell and Ta'pez were favorites of the tournament and some were exited about the prospect of a great match at the very beginning of the tournament.

G’Trell lurched forward meeting his attack head on.  She parried and swung cutting a strap on Tapez’s armor.  She stopped her assault and stepped back to allow him to remove the article or replace it.  Ta'pez merely nodded and smiled while tearing away the piece.

G’Trell had never dropped her stance but had in fact switched it to anther.  Anyone watching from last year would recognize F’Larn’s stance.  She moved in again as her opponent raised his blade settling into the dance and savoring the sound of metal on metal like a precious music. Sparks flew from the impact of their blades the deadly cuts in perfect spare like a dance.  He was stronger it did not take G’Trell long to realize that  She thrust up from her legs adding more power to her attacks. But she could tell that only her agility made it possible for her to keep up with him.  But soon her strong arms began to ache with his unrelenting blows.  He was wearing her down,  She would have to end this soon or pay dearly.

Ta'pez started singing, each word was a step, each step a movement against her - each line an attack.

Click here to listen to the song, preferably repeat set on repeat it while read this.

Title: Re: Ta'pez vs G'trell - Say'moHchu' may' 'Iw.
Post by Falco_Tauvits on Feb 15th, 2005, 11:36am

Tauvits wound his way through the crowd neatly to get to the front. Small - when compared to Klingons - but forceful, he was hardly stopped, and managed to get just before the arena as the match started.

G'Trell and Ta'pez. Both warriors he had fought last year, and he'd be happy to say both were better than him. Ta'pez defeated him fair and square, in the first match Tauvits had actually been happy with the entire tournament. And G'Trell was one of Falco's greatest shames. She was a superior fighter to he, and he had defeated her only through tactics which his fencing tutors would have been groaning in agony over. Pathetic tactics, tactics that had no place for any sportsman.

And that was how he viewed this. A sport, with rules, and a code of conduct specifically arranged so that the fighter with the greater skill would prevail, not the fighter who would cheat could come out on top.

So this was bound to be a good fight. To an extent, Tauvits was quietly rooting for G'trell, as someone he had unfairly prevented from carrying on further in the tournament last year when she deserved it, over Ta'pez, who had tasted victory twice already. But if it was a match well-fought, he was sure both were as worthy as the other. Ta'pez had given him a good lesson in humility the previous year - though he knew he'd opened up the classroom himself in the first place. They both deserved to do well.

Then the singing started, and Tauvits felt himself grinning slightly. His Klingon wasn't perfect, but had improved over the last year. One didn't deal with Klingon pirates and then take over a B'Rel class without brushing up on the language somewhat, and he joined in the Klingon words, recognising the rather familiar song.

This was really the ideal fight. Whoever won, neither would lose. He was sure of it.

The battle was now furious - with the crowd growing wild Ta'pez and Grell had increased their pace to a rhythm few could sustain for long. G'trells light combat gear and agility were poised against Ta'pez strength and confidence of a good if heavy armor.  He was unbelievably fast with the batleth and although few could match G'trells skill,  Ta'pez by far was one of the most difficult opponents she had ever encountered.

Mired in the battle they had not noticed the crowd surrounding them. The spectators were unsure who to root for, both warriors were deadly with blade yet fighting with honor not expected for such a fierce fight.

Ohhs and ahhs were constantly exchanged as each opponent tried the gain the upper hand  sometimes getting past the initial defenses only to find the opponent escape throught some lucky move or otherwise impossible skill.

G’Trell staggered back and again switched styles.  She turned to the side taking her blade in one hand, letting only one half of her slender frame be his target and resting her strong arm a moment for the move to come.  She had practiced this a hundred time on the holodeck of the Crazy Horse,  It was time to put it to use.  Her eyes sparkled and her body found a new strength a fire that could not be quenched.  Should she lose she was going to etch this battle into his head for all time.

Ta'pez was wearing down as well, he had not expected his Marine CO to last as long as she had. He was impressed and was glad to have her on the ship, there would be lots of practice time.

As she fended off Tapez’s attacks G'trell found what she had been waiting for.  An opening that most all fighters where blind to.  Not on his body but his blade.  She twisted her blade entangling it in his she brought her other hand up and used the reserved strength to wretch it free, both weapons went flying landing outside the ring. She smirked drunk with adrenalin and tasting a victory close at hand she dived and caught his waist they both tumbled to the floor in a ball of curses.

Tapez was surprised by the strategy, which led to some of G'trells success however he quickly adapted.  He pushed up with his legs trying to kick his opponent from him.   Then twisted to his feet with cats grace.

"Ready?" Ta'pez asked while grinning.

G’Trell rolled then flipped back onto her feet.  The sight of blood on the floor made her wonder which of them was injured.  She panted heavily.  All her anger with him forgotten.  Never could she remember ever have such fun.  The look on Tapez’s face showed that he too was enjoying this fight to its fullest.  Injuries didn’t matter now it was a game of cat and mouse.  She moved in again with a low fist that almost in a flash became a round house to his ribs which he dodged swiftly and countered before backing off again.  They where both sweaty and steadily tiring,  but the pulse of battle kept them both standing.  The promise of a new skill, or a chance to win edging them on more so than any crowd ever could.

Gtrell nodded to Tapez a silent question of “are you ready?” The glimmer in his eyes showed he would always be ready to meet her attacks.  So she moved in again the few precious moments of rest giving her blow an edge to it.  It was countered quickly and with style.  She stumbled back a bit surprised.  G’Trell was quick to recover and duck a low punch only to catch a knee in her gut a grinding and distinct “CRACK” signaled the breaking of her bottom ribs she collapsed under the unexpected pain and gasped for breath.

Tapez stepped back uncertain but then pursued further once he realized that she would not relent.

She felt more than heard Tapez hold back as if to ask her if she yielded he was almost on top of her.  Biting down she swallowed the pain and twisted her body back up.  She could do this.  It was still possible to win.  Besides the punishment was worth the lesson.  Someone had set their bat’letH on the side of the ring.  She dived out of way of Tapez’s next attack crying out as she hit the floor but her hands closed over her blade and Tapez’s,  She twisted the pain causing her to almost black out but it sent Tapez’s blade to his feet and bought her time to stand once more.  She stumbled as she struggled to hold her stance.  He ribs hurt like nothing before.  She shook off a dizzy spell as she tried to deflect an attack.

Ta'pez noticed that his opponent was hurting, he could feel it too, but he didn’t stop, the rush of the battle was too much and so he continued at the same time he felt sorry for her.  His next attack spun around her defense and caught her in the exposed side.

It was a blast of pain that sent G’Trell stumbling back.  She was not aware that her blade was now lowered and useless.  All she could care about was staying up and awake but that proved too hard.  G’Trell felt conches ness slipping away from her for the second time that day.  She could not stop it.  Her mistake had cost her the tourney,  but she didn’t mind she had learned something valuable today,  a new weakness in herself which had lead to mistakes.  Mistakes she would not soon forget.  All the while she felt her punished body begin to tingle. Then blackness closed in on her like a blanket.  She did manage a few weak words to her HoD.  Before her mind shut off.  It was a weak almost inaudible whisper as her body gave away.

“Please.... no.. sick...bay.”

Tapez realized what was happening and grabbed her hand before she completely lost consciousness. One of the federation qol's rushed towards but Ta'pez blocked his path." She said "No" doctors .

He turned around and shouted "Separ come quickly.!"

G’Trell awoke feeling groggy and a bruised.  She tried sitting up and regretted the action almost instantly as her head swam and pain shot through her.  She gritted her teeth and managed to get into a sitting position.  She looked around trying to get her bearings.
A quick look around told her, she was in a small side room and a klingon be' was tending her.  She was of average built and beauty yet her sharp charcoal eyes were piercing the surroundings.

"Easy" said the be', "take it slow. "

G'Trell shook her head and defiantly stood up.  The action was excoriating but she managed to keep her balance through the swarm of dizzying nausea.  “ I thank you for your aid….” She paused realizing how rude she was being,  she had not even asked the woman’s name.  “ I am sorry,” She said casting her eyes to the floor. “ I just want to return to the bouts and see how the meHHaj crew is fairing. “  She extends her hand the gesture was painful but not as painful as most. “ I am G’Trell of the house of Al’Vok.”

Separ smiled. " They are doing well, I am Separ, daughter of PoQ.."

Separ was pressing a cold press against G’Trell chest. "This should ease the swelling, do not strain yourself for the next couple of days."

G'Trell brought her hand back and smiled. " I will do that," She then looked to the door "I am glad to hear they are holding there own out there.  I must say my last bout was a dozy I feel as if I have been hit with a freighter going warp 9."  G'Trell tried to draw a deep breath and knew then and there it was not something she wanted to try again soon.  It felt like her lungs exploded and she stumbled back and fell onto the bench she had been laying on.  She muttered a few curses under breath.

Separ chuckled. "Ta'pez can be stubborn, I ll go let him know that you are well. He was worried you were seriously injured."

G'Trell tried to chuckle but it came out more of a gurgling sound. "Its just pain it will pass,  I need to get more practice in." G'Trell struggled to her feet again.  " Thanks again for your aid Separ but I need to go."

Separ nodded and left the small room leaving G’Trell to contemplate on the recent events and her rather bruised torso.  G’Trell steadied her self again and then staggered from the room her self toward her quarters.

K'Tar had watched the battle and enjoyed the the song that was sung during the battle.  This had been a great battle.  One of which would not be forgotten anytime in the near future.  K'Tar was proud of his HoD and being Klingon.  Then he heard his name be called up to fight a Falco Tauvits.

After Separ had talked to him, Ta'pez felt reilieved. G'trell had fought hard and it was good that she was not injured.

K'Tars battle was next and Ta'pez didnt want to miss any of his crew fighting.
