Title: Later that night...
Post by So`l Mackenzie on Feb 18th, 2005, 12:29am

So'l found his way to the bar later that night. He'd spent all day after his match in the showers. He hadn't meant to, he'd just looked up a while after he was finished weeping and noticed dinner had come and gone. He felt empty inside, like his soul was gone.

The bartender looked up as he entered The Legon. So'l slid into the bar and ordered up something potent.

Taylor saw one of K'Hare's students sitting down at the bar, to say that he looked blue was an understatement Dan had the distinct impression that he was planning to get drunk find a hole to crawl in to and drop dead.

Standing up Taylor left the table he'd been sitting at, he picked up his tankard before walking over to the bar. He slid down next to So'l and drained his tankard, he slamed it down on the bar "Barkeep, more bloodwine"

Turning to So'l he smiled "What has you down young man?"

So'l grunted. He didn't give any other sign he'd even heard Taylor. After a long moment, he took a pull on his drink.

"You wouldn't understand." he said at last, still looking straight ahead into infinity.

Taylor frowned "Don't be so quick to judge, I would have thought a student of K'Hare's would already know not to judge a book by its cover"

Dan smiled to the barkeep as he dropped off another whiskey. Usually Taylor hated spirits today he found them a refreshing change to all the bloodwine he'd drank in the past 48 hours.

So'l snorted, though it wasn't really funny. "That's all Klingons do. Judge."

It was a wildly unfair statment, and So'l didn't care. He wasn't feeling charitible. He wasn't feeling much of anything except a slow burning resentment.

"Ah I see its self pitty time" Taylor took a sip of his drink "Are you going to explain your reason for being down or do I have to drag that information from you?"

Taylor turned to look at the young man sitting next to him, he smiled despite the request he'd just been given "You know Kid I've been out in the universe failing since before you were born, how you deal with failure says more about your character than how you deal with winning"

Dan reached in to his pocket and removed a handful of coins. He slamed them down on the bar "Barkeep, this is for the young man here. Let him drown his sorrows it seems thats all he's worth"

Without a glance towards So'l he drained the last of his whiskey, he gently placed the glass on the bar before turning away with every intent of turning in for the night.

Only time would tell if the student would call him back or if he'd continue trying to drown himself in  alcohol.

"It's not about winning." So'l said. He couldn't have said why he had done it, his mouth just went ahead without him. He took another drink and didn't worry about it.

Taylor smiled, he barely heard the students comment but what he heard was enough to stop him in his tracks "No its the taking part that matters." he said loud enough for So'l to hear.

This time So'l did laugh openly. The man was right, but not in the way he thought.

"Like I said, you don't understand."

Taylor turned backtowards So'l "So like I said, explain it" he turned and looked at the door "Its either that or I go to my bed and do the sleeping thing, boy does sleep sound more appealing than being told where to get off by you."

REYNOLDS: Mind if Isit here cadet?  You lost too, huh.  I guess you can't win 'em all :'( . . .     But you can give 'em hell! ;)

Reynolds draws his sword, which is still covered in blood from his previous matches.

Want a drink?  :)

Tauvits slunk in to the bar, and slid over to the counter, slipping onto a stool as he leaned heavily on his elbows. Food had absorbed some of the bloodwine from earlier. Now it was probably best he got himself some proper whiskey down his throat, just to prepare for the coming days.

He only ordered a shot, noticed S'ol off to one side looking very much like a man who wanted to be alone with his thoughts and his drink, and decided to leave the kid to it. Many times before had Falco been interrupted in his own drinking, and he knew how unappreciated it could be.

Still, it didn't stop another man, in a captain's uniform, stepping over to the bar and sitting next to S'ol, speaking to him briefly before drawing a blood-stained sword, 19th century sabre of some sort if Tauvits was any judge.

He couldn't help but chuckle wryly, and sipped casually on his whiskey as this brought him a glance.

Tauvits: Ah, nothing. You just might want to clean that blade; the blood won't do the metal any favours. I don't know if that's a real antique - nice preservation of her, if it is - or a replicated thing, but either way, you're going to need to take better care of that sword.

He downed the rest of his glass of whiskey amiably.

Tauvits: And you might want to give that there in to security. They don't like it when you bring around your own weapons. Trust me. I had to put my own duelling sword in their security, and my knife, and phasers and everything. Makes a man feel like he's walking around naked, but security do not like the fuss of armed men. Now, if you were a Klingon, you could blag a Daqtagh as uniform, but I don't think that sword comes under any kind of Starfleet uniform, ever...

Before Reynolds could respond to Tauvits' remark he had collapsed on the ground, having been stunned by a security officer nearby.  The security officer, and one of his colleagues, promptly gathered up Captain Reynolds and escorted him to the brig where he would remain for the duration of the tournament.

Tauvits watched security drag off Reynolds with a rather calm air, sipping his whiskey deliberately and raising a curious eyebrow. "Yeah, like that. Security can be touchy sometimes."

Then he turned back to the table, gestured for another whiskey, and settled down for a calm night of further inebriation.

So'l affected not to notice any of it, staring stubbornly ahead.
