Ness stopped and sat down on deck 2100. He took a drink from his canteen. His arms and legs felt like they were going to fall off, but he had to complete this exercise. If he didn't, who knows what K'Vok would do.

"Ness to K'Vok. I am on deck 2100 and proceeding upwards."

As Ness climbed to the next level he discovered a security officer simply standing watch on the door. The guard did not seem happy to see him but didn't say anything.

The guard didn't answer, so Ness kept climbing.

As Ness climbed a level or two he heard the echoes of conversation below him then a door opened and closed.

Note, in a long, long time, when he gets to Deck 221/220 he'll be stopped. Decks 218-220 are where the base intelligence department works and only intel personnel and the base CO can get in there and then only with retina scan.

He'll need to be escorted down a hall on deck 221 and take a turbolift to 217 before resuming his climb.

Yes, those decks are intel as follows:

218 - Intelligence (Operations Division)
219 - Intelligence (Analysis Division & HQ)
220 - Intelligence (Strategy Division)

The only way to enter those decks is through the main entrance on Deck 219.... but we're now waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay off topic
