Title: Refections - Before the fight

Joint post
Wade
G'Trell

ON:

G’Trell looked up at the ring.  The room was just starting to fill with people and soon the two combatants would arrive as well.  G’Trell felt her heart cry at the realization,  that yet again she had failed to come out on top.  But that was fine,  there was always next year.  She prayed that Tapez HoD would win.  Only because it would bring a increment of relief to know she had lost to the champion, the best.  She had learned so much this year, as she had the past few years.  It was that wealth on knowledge that allowed her to keep her head as high as any victor here.

Wade had just made his way into the room.  He nodded at a few as he walked threw the crowd.  He then spoted G'trell standig there and looking up towards the ring.  He had hoped he had a chance to speak to her in private but he was running out of chances.

He walked up next to her and looked up at the ring with her.  "You'll get there some day I'm sure"

G'Trell turned and brought her hand up to salute the admiral who had once been her captain.  “Sir!,  It’s good to see you.  How fairs the USS Saturn?”

Wade did a quick salute in return. "Relax, the Saturn goes good. Though not quite the same with out you."

G'Trell tryed hard not to frown.  It had been a hard choice to leave the Saturn.  She had spent many nights the last year trying to figure out why she had left at all.  But inwardly she knew,  But the truth was ugly and cowardly.  She nodded and forced her smile to stay put. " I am sure of that.  An admiral now,  Its about time they promoted you."

"Well, if not for the crew I wouldn't be where I am....So, I hear your on the meh'haj.”

G'Trell nodded. "Yeah,  I was actually on my way out of Starfleet,  you know ready to retire.  After my cruse on the USS Crazy Horse starfleet felt I had earned it.  But I guess I got cold feet.  Plus I could not pass up the chance of coming here."  She smiled up there.  "I dont need to be in that ring in the finals to know I am a champion.  But its nice to win every now and again."  She looked back at him with a raised brow. " By the way,  was that Doctor Talvur I saw in the final four?"

"Yes it was.  He became the ship's champion after you left.  But I'm sure it was sparing with you and F’Larn that helped him get here"

G'Trell could not hold her smile at the mention of F'Larn.  She nodded, "He was a a pleasure to train with,  I got just as much out of it as he."

Wade looked at G’Trell in here eyes "It was because of him, wasn't it"

G'Trell flinched back a little at the abrupt change in topic. "Sir?"

"I always wondered why you left the Saturn.  You seemed determined to get a transfer and I didn't want to stop you if you really wanted to go. Still I wondered why.  Now I think he had something to do with him. Am I wrong?

G'Trell's mind stumbled for a response. It was a dishonor to lie.  Besides she respected this man. "Mainly it was that, yes."  She looked away.

"I won't ask you to go further. That is personal. I'm sorry.  I was just worried that...well that I was providing enough of a Klingon atmosphere on the Saturn"

G'Trell smiled a little  "No the Saturn was a wonderful home.  I miss it sorely.  The Crazy Horse was a grand ship, don’t get me wrong.  But it was not home.  Besides sir,  You of all people should know that its the Klingon atmospheres that make me itchy."

Wade smiled "Well you should know, no matter what happens, you will always have a home with us."

G'Trell smirked. " Come the end of my term on the meHHaj I just might take you up on that offer.  How is Commander Raven doing?"

"She's good.  Still keeping us all in line"  A commander walked up to Wade and motioned that he was needed up front. Wade wanted to talk with G'trell more but he was needed else where. " I'm afraid I have to cut this short. You will write and let me know how things are going?"

"Of corse sir. "  She bid him fare well, watching him dissapear into the now heavy crowd.  She shook away the cold chill that ran up her spine.  Giving a final glance at the stage she left to find Sajida.
