First, do not spam this thread.  There are a few other tourney thread running around.  Please keep this one clean and only reply with questions about the signup process.  Alternatively, you can IM me or one of the other Moderators.

Please do not PM us here.  Email or IM if we are on will be more efficient.

Their are two web sites for the tourney this year.  The main rules and info site and the forum where the game will be held.  Yes, this year, we are going to try and run things on a forum.  Essentially, the game areas of the forum are organized by each in character day.  Initially, those areas will not be visible.  As time move forward, they will appear and you can start posting there.  We hope this will help organize the flood of posts that will be generated.  Your posts in the game area should be similar to the post you do in any other BF simm and you should post your actions in the thread for the appropriate scene.  There is a third important URL, the join form.

Each participant should sign up for the tourney and sign up on the forums.  Your forum ID should represent the character you are attending with.  I suggest signing up early and signing up with a simple login such as your characters first or last name.  This forum software allows you to reformat your visible name at anytime so you can change your login of 'bob' to display as "Lt. Robert Martens".  We expect everyone to use sensible names that help other recognize their characters.  Offensive or nonsense names will be removed and IPs will be blocked.

My primary task as Judge at the competition is to organize the sign up and bracket creation as well and do the prep work for each match.  Please send questions about that to betlehIII@batlh.com.  This will help me get your message sooner so I can process it faster.   Last year, the competition was over 800 messages and I received an addition 400 message related to judge duties.  This was in under 4 weeks.

If you would like to participate in this years tournament the first thing you should do is go to the info site and read the welcome message and the rules.  If you still would like to attend, you should then talk to your CO about representing your ship.  Each ship is guaranteed one entry in the tournament.  Additional entries are allowed into the bracket on a first come, first serve basis.  You must have your CO's permission.  If you are the only player interested on your ship, ask your CO for the right to represent your ship, otherwise, he will decide who gets the guaranteed spot.  Once you have your CO's permission to attend, fill out the join form as best you can.  Don’t worry, errors on the form can be corrected.  Within 2 days you should receive email from me saying you are in.  If not, email me.  (Keep in mind, that for the first few days after Jan 20, I will be quite busy handling the initial rush of entries.)  After submitting the join form, go to the forum site, sign up, and have a look around there.

The tourney will start on February 8 but there will be an in character area opened a day early.  Additionally, the info and OOC areas of the forum are open but remember, we will not tolerate spam.

An additional note.  If you are returning with a character that attended last year please send an additional email to betlehIII@batlh.com with a brief description of what your character has done for the last year.  The intent is to help me determine if your skill should have gone up or down, and if so, how much.   In this case, you do not have to fill the join form, your old bio will be used and you can update it before the tourney start.

An additional additional note.  Characters from BF who aren't competing can attend.  If you are attending but not competing use the join form but please indicate your intent in the training box.  If you aren't competing, you don't have to fill out the skill sections of the form.  If you do fill them out, your weapons skill, relative to the entrants will show up on your bio.  Think of it as reputation.  But as always, the judges will oversee the skill ratings and unreasonable ones will be ignored.

On last note.  The banner on the forum is a link to the bio pages and the banner on the bio pages links back to the forum.  Of course, the bio pages are not up to date ... because not everyone has signed up yet!

So get to it!

I am going to contridict myself and I hope this isn't confusing. If you are returning from last year I still want you to send the email, but having done a few of the characters tonight, I realized I do need you to submit the join form. I only need your character name (so I know who it was) and the up to date answers to the skill questions.

Having looked at a few of you I realized that some of your answers could have changed and I'd never know.

So, the new rule is:

If you are returning, send email to betleHIII@batlh.com telling what your character has done in the last year that might affect your score and fill out the skill section of the application and submit that.
