[XFY Diplomatic Offices]
Jailan Allers, Chief Diplomatic Officer for Xavier Fleet Yards, silently looked out over the assembled officers in the station's main diplomatic office. He looked out with pride over his staff. They had worked tirelessly to prepare for the competition, and soon all of their work would pay off.
Jailan: I would just like to say how pleased I am with everyone. You all have pushed yourselves to the limit in order to help prepare this station for what promises to be a major event. I could not be happier with the progress that has been made. Soon those coming to the tournament will be arriving, and the real test will begin. Throughout most of the tournament, I will be wandering the station to provide any assistance our guests might need. In my absence, Ensign Zeriss will be in control of the diplomatic offices.
Jailan waved one hand over towards the Catian officer standing off to the right.
Jailan: They are to remain open to any seeking our assistance. If there is anything that appears to require my personal attention please contact me immediately. With that said, I'd like to thank you all again for the hard work I'm sure you'll be putting in. May we walk with the Prophets.
A soft round of applause went up throughout the office as the officers started heading back to their respective tasks. Jailan gave Zeriss a brief nod before heading out himself. It would not be long before the station began to fill with those seeking the competition of the tournament. Unconsciously he adjusted the purple collar of his uniform and made his way out into the corridors of the station.
Personally the Bajoran diplomat did not look forward to this kind of contest. It tended to go against his more passive beliefs even if these battles were simply for sport, but the benefits such an event could bring to Xavier and Trixia far outweighed any moral objections he had. Letting his normal warm smile slide across his face, Jailan made his way toward the Promenade. No doubt most of the arrivals would probably head that way first.
