Room with a view

=/\= XFY =/\=

After his meeting with the Admiral, James felt a little lighter on his feet. He wasn't quite as burdened by his thoughts after his chat with the admira...no...with Wade.

James smiled as he made his way back down the turbolift. It stopped, of course, and he was met with a security contingent. He stepped off the turbolift and they eyed him as he got off. These gents wern't letting anyone back on unless they had a darn good reason. He pulled out his PADD and checked his room assignment again. It had been given the day before when the Saturn arrived, but James hadn't bothered to move in quite yet.

Now he was ready. He made his way off to his room and keyed the door to open. It was sparse, at best...but at least it had a view. James looked out the vista at all the activity around the station. Little ships, big ships, Klingon and Federation all made their way around. James looked around. The room was empty except for him. His roommate had apparently not arrived just yet. James sat his bag on the bed he decided to claim as his own, unzipped his duffel and carefully extracted his Bat'leth in its case. He unwrapped the case and held his bat
leth up to the light.

It was not dissimilar to what could commonly be found, and yet it was also unique. It was his. Not replicated, not found, but made for him, hand forged by a fine smith for his use. The body of the bat'leth appeared as obsidian, with a smooth black, glasslike surface that softly glinted in the light. James ran his hand over the handle, lovingly. This was his escape and his passion. His companionship since he had left Commodore Anderson had been the blade. This is my companion, he thought.

James zipped up his duffel and slung his bat'leth over his shoulder. He stepped out into the corridor and keyed the door shut and locked. Only his roommate would be able to enter, and James hoped he would have enough honor not to poke around in his things.

James made his way down the corridor, to the turbolift and keyed it. He was headed to hang up his bat'leth and to get a drink.

=/\= Section Blue 2 =/\=

James had stepped off the turbolift and started to make his way down the corridor when he noticed a security officer disembark from the adjacent turbolift and start to head in the same direction as James. James furrowed his brow as he continued to make his way down the corridor. He took a random turn and noticed that the security officer made the same turn.

James had noticed the man after he had gotten off the turbolift from the VIP section, and James had also seen him outside of his quarters here on the station. The man had to be following him. James turned another corner, now in a corridor parallel to where he had started and ducked into a doorway. He waited until the security officer passed him and James stepped out behind him.

"What are you doing?"

The security officer spun around, a phaser in his hand. James looked him in the eyes. "I said, what are you doing?"

The security officer looked at James again. "I'm following you, sir."

James was a little puzzled. Why was a Federation security officer following him. "Why the hell are you following me?"

"We're following all the competitors until they stow their weapons."

James nearly laughed at the man. Obviously Nierbo's replacement was very cautious and didn't trust the kind of people that the tournament brought. "Well then, lead the way to the competition area and you can be about your way."

James followed the man to the competition arena. He looked at the Wall of Honor and noticed that there was only a single bat'leth on the wall. Siminway. James looked for his spot and  hefted his blade from his shoulder and hung it in his position. With that he turned to the security officer. "Satisfied?"

"Yes sir. Have a nice stay at Xavier Fleet Yards."

James shook his head and followed the officer back to the turbolift. James needed a drink after that.
