T'lai noticed a suspicious character talking into a communicator.  She then noticed how he was looking in the direction of Ta'pez and K'Hare.  Her eyes narrowed slightly as she kept an eye on the fellow who was spying on them.

With her skills of lip reading, she caught parts of what he was saying.  'I wonder why he's after K'Hare...And this... mirror universe?  What was all this about?' She thought to herself silently.  Somehow she felt that something fishy was going on, so she stood up and approached the person.

"Planning an invasion, are we??" She asked after she coughed to get his attention.  She kept her voice down in a hush.

Before the dinner:

Rear Admiral Durkis slowly made his way through the crowd of klingons.  He was both a little surprised and honored to be invited to the dinner.  Granted his position as founder and head judge put im in a position to be invited to many dinners that evening. However, it would have been easy enough for K'Hare to not invite him stating it was for the meH'Haj.  He would have excepted that without hesitation but was indeed honored to be there.

Wade noticed K'Hare talking with K'Grath off to the side.  It wasn't since some time after the first competition thta Wade and K'Grath had spoken.  K'Grath was a judge then and some help to Wade in that first year.  But as duties dictated, neither had seen each other since.  Wade would have to talk with him before the competition was over.

During Dinner:

Wade noticed what appeared to be a few surprised faces to see him digging into the live food quite readily.  They likely figured a starfleet human, particularly an admiral, wouldn't be used to eating Klingon food.  His days in the academy and many a meal with Khalin and the other Klingons on the Saturn however made him more used to it.  He would still take a steak and potatoe over anything else but he did appreciate a good Klingon meal.

It was after his second helping of ghew that Wade noticed another firmilar face.  He noticed G'trell his former Head Fighter pilot seating with some others across the room.  He hated to see her leave the Saturn and still wasn't sure why she did.  He couldn't help wonder if it was because the Saturn was not klingon enough. He would tell him that wasn't the case but as he saw her now he wasn't sure.

After dinner:

Wade watched with great anticipation the events unfolding between K'Hare and Ta'pez.  When K'hare's crew started to stand in support of him, Wade wanted to as well but thought it best not to at the moment.

As the head judge, part of him kept wanting to step in and stop this for it got to far.  But since he considered K'hare a friend he wouldn't dishonor him or the Klingon tradition by interfering.  Instead he watched intently and waited to see how things unfold.

G'Trell picked at her food not feeling all to hungery.  She listend to the chatter of the surrounding Klingons being sure to at least smile at some of their jokes.  She would rather be training,  she had never been big with croweds except for her marines that is.  She sighed at the thought of her treasured fighter still restting in the belly of the USS Saturn.  Some lucky piolt was most likely doing maintance on it,  keeping it tip top as she has drilled into their heads so many times.  She felt eyes on her again and looked around and caught a glimps of Rear Admiral Durk looking in her direction.  At the same moment some one poped a joke that caused her to look over at the teller and laugh.  When she looked back though the Admiral had turned his gaze else where.  She really wanted to speak with him.  To explaine her hasty departure from the Saturn.  But again they both seemed too engaged for the moment.  Perhaps later.  Yes Later would be best.  Then Chaos erupted and she watched in sielent aggitation as Khare and Tapez exchanged verbal blows.

OFF: I don't know who to murdalize first!

yoHDeS watched the escalation of tension between the current yaS ra'wI' of the meH'Haj, and the one called K'Hare.

She had heard of both of them but had never met either personally.  As the undercurrent in the room turned more and more forbidding she readied herself for the conflict that she was certain would erupt.

Her shock when Ta'pez and K'Hare were both found to be 'other' than fully Klingon was there, but it was not such a big surprise.  Most of the 'great' houses in the empire had dilluted their bloodlines at some time in the past, that was the way with great empires that took in other species with each section of space they conquered.

While both her mother and father came from supposed 'imperial' lines, yoHDeS had always been told that she was proof that somewhere in the past some diminutive alien race had been introduced into the bloodline and all the faults of that blood had come to roost on her doorstep.  She thought it was all so much tripe, but she could see how it could happen.

The thing that worried her most about this was the way it was affecting those in the crowd.  She could feel the tension, the anticipation, the almost joyful glee that everyone was feeling at the thought of having a knock down drag out fight right here.  Even though there were no betleHmey in the room, it would be bloody if it erupted, all of the Klingons carried their Daqtaghmey.

When K'Grath moved the table and challenged the two to face each other, she could do naught but appreciate his wisdom.  He diffused the crowd by reminding them that this was between the two males, a personal matter, and not something to embroil them all in a fight that would end badly.

DeS could support neither of them, so she had moved back and now stood on a table against a wall so she could watch what happened.

The implications of the half Betazoid left her the thought that she could see why the one called K'Hare would hate him so badly.  Who wanted another being, another Klingon reading their mind?  The very thought of someone seeing into a Klingon's mind was repugnant.  She would kill anyone who tried to read her mind without her knowledge if she ever found out about it.

When K'Hare was revealed to be one quarter Romulan she frowned even deeper.  He would accuse another, yet hid his own secret, but that was inconsistant with the K'Hare she had heard about from a young engineer who had come to her from the meH'Haj a time ago.

She stayed on her table, watching events unfold.

be'eQaraH was ready still to stand at the back of her commanding officer, even though now the fight had been brought back to a personal level by K'Grath.

She watched the crowd for any who might impose themself into the fight should it become physical, she would not allow any of the followers of the chang to give him an advantage.  No tricks or treason would be allowed by her.

The students watched her, and took their cue from her.  They to studied the crowd, watching.

QaraH's shock at the revelation of the terran Qel brought QaraH to her feet.  She felt shock and rage pound through her blood, rage directed at K'Hare, for decieving her.

Then she heard someone speaking to Ing who had been seated beside her.  She turned and saw the Commanding Officer of the Task Force that they were assigned to.  He was slightly inebriated from bloodwine, that much was obvious, but even with that he seemed to be thinking more clearly than she was.

"Ing, give him what he wants."  She then addressed the Admiral, "I am be'eQaraH, yaS wa'DIch (First Officer)  of Klach D'kel Brakt.  What do you wish me to do?"

Her blood thrummed through her veins, she was ready for action.

K’Hare looked at the human doctor confused then heard and saw all the reactions but he didn’t react at first.  It was too surreal.  What would be the point of this… to have him killed in a riot?

He looked over at ta’pez, no longer an enemy.  “We only just ended our conflict.  Do not start it up again without being sure it is what you want."  No one needed the skills of a betazed to see how angry he was.  He looked each of the close warriors in the eye to defy them moving forward.

When he was satisfied none would step up, he yelled over the murmur toward his crew.  “QaraH, come here.”

She was uncertain but it seemed like him.  She had served with him for over two years, but this seemed like him.  She wanted to yell, ‘show me your ears’, but such a thing could be altered easily enough.  Ta’pez had proved that and more.

QaraH looked at Taylor then moved toward the dias, but stayed well back out of K'Hare's reach.  Her Daqtagh was drawn and ready.  She was suspicious of him, wary, but stalling him would give the Admiral and Ing time to do whatever it is that they have to do.

K’Hare addressed the room.  "I do not know what kind of trick this is... ", then to QaraH, "but you are my second, so my actions are your responsibility to guard."

As if on cue the station security team ran forward and onto the stage.  K’Hare looked at Taylor, "I understand the need for that, but if you want me to go quietly, hold them for a moment"

Taylor considered.  The only escape was transport and the station was guarded.  If this was the enemy he could get around that, but this was unplanned.  Better to let this play out.  He held up a hand to hold back security for the moment.

The anticipation in the room could be felt and it only grew when K'Hare reached for his blade.  The security officers draw and aimed but K’Hare smoothly draw and threw his weapon to his XO’s feet.   "QaraH, do you still have the hand scanner?"

She nodded and used the hand without her blade in it to take if from a pouch on her belt, leaving his dagger where it is on the ground.  "I have it."

"And?"

She held it up so she could look at it without losing sight of K'Hare and activated it.  "It says that you are the one with the location device in you.”  She continued, “but at the time you gave this to me, you said it could be fooled."

"Of course, I am an Engineer.”  Many who knew him couldn’t help but smile.  That was just what K’Hare would say.  “But it does confirm that I am the same K'Hare that has been with you since we left KDB, since before, does it not?"

She nodded.  "It does."

He looked at ta'pez, “The same one that was on the station when YOU encountered the fake.”  He looked back forward to address the room.  “I am K’Hare”.

T'lai watched the interception with interest.  She looked around.  She then walked up to both parties.  "That's simple enough.  Couldn't you take a blood test and match up their DNA?" She asked outta curiosity, having no clue how serious the matter actually was...

As the Klingon K'Hare spoke, DeS had hopped off the table and moved to where she could watch the 'debate' from the front.

She looked at T'Lai then glanced at K'Hare.  "Most Klingons do not have medical scans taken of them.  Even when there was a threat from the Changelings we resisted such invasions as unnecessary.  A few drops of blood let fall from the fist was enough to confirm or deny if you were or were not a replacement."

She watched as the male nodded at her, indicating that he had never had a medical scan, just like most warriors of the Empire had not.

It would explain why he did not know what his blood would show.

The Qel called Kur'rk stood and shouted, " I was his CMO for over  year.  I never scanned him.  I only treated him once, at the last betleH tourney."  He then told the story of how K'Hare had a piece of the blade of a Daqtagh stuck in his back and that K'Hare came to him because he could not reach it to pull it out himself.

yoHDeS stood then, watching to see what would happen next.

Quote from K`Hare totlh   on Feb 10th, 2005, 10:29am:
Culshaw: And you are 20-25% Romulan… one of your grandmother’s I would think.

Ing swore under his breath. His crewmates next to him thought it sounded vaguely Bajoran. Quickly, Ing brought out a piece of hardware from the bag he always carried with him, and pointed it towards K'Hare. It appeared to be scanning the totlh, but was much larger than a standard tricorder.

Quote from Dan   on Feb 10th, 2005, 11:48am:
Coming up from behind Ing Taylor tapped him lightly on the shoulder “Ing, this is very important I need to know exactly how you prove or disprove your theories of the imposter on the Scott” Dan pointed over to K’Hare “I’m not sure if that’s our K’Hare or not” he said simply to end his statement.

"Check for a quantum flux in his RNA - if he's from a mirror universe, one will appear," Ing replied immediately. "But if he's been here for long enough, it would have faded." Ing consulted his device, "That would take roughly 6 months."

"We also know that the version ta'pez fought had prominent Romulan ears - I'm sure you've seen the flyers. Check his ears for recent surgeries or  other alterations, if he's the one who ta'pez encountered, they would have to have been recently altered." Ing thought for a moment. "Check with be'eQaraH to ensure that we warned Xavier to monitor for signs of subspace transport. Assuming we did, we should know that the K'Hare's couldn't have been swapped by such means. And I think K'Hare's been talking with old comrades all day, they would have been able to tell if he was unfamiliar with any of the historical events in this universe. So if he hasn't been out of their sight, and knows all the right details, he's our totlh."

Taylor digested the information he had been given as they both heard be'eQaraH confirm the existence of the locator beacon.

Ing nodded in her direction indicating that he had already known what the result swould be. "Also, run a DNA expression projection from K'Hare's DNA. It will take time, but it will tell us if this K'Hare would ever grow Romulan ears in the first place."

As Taylor was walking forward to instruct the security personnel, Ing told him, "K'Hare has no official DNA records on file..."

"Quantum flux in his RNA" is far more ridiculous than the type of treknobable I'd ordinarily come up with. But it is what was used to identify Worf as having been bouncing from dimension to dimension in the TNG episode, "Parallels".

((This JP happens just before the fight..))

G'Trell felt her face burn as her eyes narrowed on Khare and Tapez. Her son Tarlin had behaved better than that before his death and he had been barely five. She took a breath and calmed herself. There was no need to let herself get drawn into it as well. She honestly didn't see what the fuss was about. If they wanted to insult eachother why not just resort to childish name calling it would be more amusing. She smiled as she thought of the effect on the room if tapez would just come out and call Khare a "pointed earred Tribble." Her anger saited she figired it was time for a disgret exit. She excused her self from M'Rek's company and made her way to the door where she spotted T'Lai. The gleem in the womans eyes reflected the smoldering anger she hid.

T'lai was too tied up in how angry she was at her house brother, that she didn't notice G'Trell approach her. She was still very dissipointed with Ta'pez and how he made himself look like a fool. She was going to give him a good talking to when they was alone.

G'Trell debated on speaking to the woman. After there last bout she was not sure where she stood with her. But she was curious as to what T'Lai thought of this "mess". She stood next to her and cleared her throat alittle. "So which one do you think diserves the spanking?"

T'lai made a huff. Her arms remained in a crossed position. "They both do." She retorted. It was evident she wasn't pleased with either of the two klingon men.

G'Trell chuckled " I might be able to bend that big one over" She pointed to Khare. "I guess that leaves you HoD Ta'pez." She smiled. "You think you can handle that?"

T'lai blinked at G'Trell. "You're strange." She simply commented.

G'Trell's smile grew " I know."

"15 years amongst humans will do that to any one"

"Good thing I chose not to go with that pack of humans that insisted I join the federation, 10 years ago." She grumbled. T'lai motioned to an empty chair. "Have a seat... or stand... which ever you prefer." She suggested.

G'Trell shook her head. " Actually I am on my way out of this three ring cirus, before it get ugly. I would hate to have to take out all the competion before the bouts have even begun." Her face became a little more serious. "Besides I have my own demons to deal with, with out dealing or careing about anyone elses. I am not racail so I find this bickering pointless to all ends."

T'lai nodded. "Understandable... How ever this argument is more than just common bickering. Their hatred amongst each other has been around for many many years. I believe they hold a personal grudge against each other for personal reasons." She commented.

G'Trell waved a hand dismisivly. " That hate blinds them to the point where they cant see what they have to offer one anther. They are both flawed...so they have taken the time to painstakingly point ot to everyone else. But what they cant see past is that there is more to being Klingon than whats in your blood. I know humans who walk as tall and strong as any of our kind. Being Klingon is a feeling a spirit that is what sets us apart from every other race. *She looks over at the two men facing down* They could do great things together if they would just see."

T'lai nodded. "A smart one you are." She commented. "How ever a fool to think of yourself superior to all other beings." She said.

G'Trell could not help but chuckle. "I didn't say I was supeior. Just diffrent...Which seems to be the cause of all this fuss in front of us. Good evening T'lai." G'Trell turned to leave.

"Good evening to you as well." She replied and watched her leave.

KTar entered as the dinner was beginning.  Ceres had come along and entered with KTar as the two sat down at a nearby table.  The room was filled with various Klingons whom K'Tar had never seen.

<<AFTER the dinner>>

K'Tar stood as he noticed the other Klingon, supporting K'Hare standing.  K'Tar kept his hand near the hilt of his dk'tagh, ready to draw it if needed.  If any Klingon moved to attack his HoD, even this K'Hare, they would regret it with their life.

M'Rek had been surprised upon hearing that Ta'pez was half Betazed, but unlike other's in the room he remained calm and thoughtful.  Then as he listened to the way the others responded he knew where he stood in the matter and felt his blood burn at the insult that the others delivered to his HoD.

In the short time he had been a member of his HoD's crew he had seen what Ta'pez truly was.  He had seen the spirit of his HoD.  There was fire that showed in the eyes even when the outside was calm.  As now fire showed in M'Rek's golden brown eyes as he took to his HoD's side.  He had seen what Ta'pez was in heart and spirit and did not care what genes made up his HoD as long as his HoD head the heart and spirit of a Klingon.   And just now Ta'pez had shown his Klingon spirit by not backing down from a challenge, even at the risk of his own humility.

The Large Hirogen/Klingon's firey eyes glared at each one who would dare insult his HoD's honor as he stood on the oposite side of his HoD from K'Tar, so that Ta'pez now was framed by his weHwI' who would not fight the battles for the HoD but fight with him.  "An insult on my HoD's Honor, is an insult on my own and every member of his crew!"  He growled out... His eyes daring anyone to challenge his belief...

K'Tar nodded in agreement to his squad leader, M'Rek.  "I'd rather have a part betazoid HoD, than one that is part Romulan," K'Tar said Romulan with complete disgust as if they were the lowest form of life in the galaxy.  "Perhaps you are a member of the House of Duras," K'Tar spat with disgust.

G'Trell was about to slip out the door when she heard a familliar voice growl out in temperd anger.

"An insult on my HoD's Honor, is an insult on my own and every member of his crew!"

She looked back and saw M'Rek standing next to Ta'pez and K'Tar.  She shifted the weight of her batletH and smiled.  She made her way back through the crowd and took a place to protect her HoD if need be.   She smiled at M'Rek her eyes beging to shimmer as her pulse began to pound.  He had a point to insult ones HoD was a insult to the ship.  Though she did not agree with her HoD's actions she would protect him the same as every one else.  Just as she would the Adrimal if she where still on his ship.  She smirked as she relized that she would protect the Admirl anyway just because he was a friend.

yoHDeS almost laughed at the three warriors who stepped up to stand with Ta'pez.  Evidently they did not understand what K'Grath had done by bringing it back to a personal level, nor did they apparently understand how repugnant it was for a Klingon to have their mind read, the implication of Ta'pez being half Betazoid was much greater than they apparently realized.

Personally, DeS thought that K'Hare had it much harder than the other male.  She could tell by the look in his eyes that his heritage was as much a surprise to him as it was to apparently everyone else.  Ta'pez had known what he was from birth, not so with the totlh apparently.

The diminutive Klingon female had learned much in her 27 years, much of it had been taught the hard way, but she had learned it.  She did not know all of the facts of this matter, and so it was not her place to insert herself into it.  Never-the-less, she remained where she was, determined to use her cool head to prevent an all out war if it looked to be about to start.  She hoped K'Grath would again step in and calm those who backed Ta'pez down.
