Wolfe vs K'lintag
« on: Feb 13th, 2005, 10:18am »

Off: I sure hope that's not a real character's name Smiley

The two fighters squared off across from each other, both wearing Klingon armor, but one was a mixed species. There was no hiding that fact.

K'lintag: You are nothing more then a mongrel, you should have been put down long ago. You are an insult to those of us with pure blood.

Wolfe: I wonder, do you do all of your work with your mouth? All I've heard out of you since we were paired up to fight is nothing but talk. It's almost time to put up or shut up.

Tomas tried to make it seem like the other's comments didn't upset him. His own martial arts training taught him to fight from a place of balance, and that included his emotions. But it was hard, standing this close to someone who was trying his hardest to insult him.

K'lintag: *Smiling a stereotypical toothy Klingon stare* Then let's say we do this to first blood. When I split your skin open, we will finally see how the human and vulcan blood has diluated you.

Wolfe: First blood it is. But it will be your blood that will need to be cleaned up here, not mine.

Tomas bowed to the referreee and the 3 judges sitting back away from the mat. He then turned and gave a slight bow to K'lintag. As much as he hated him right now, he wasn't about to show total disprespect towards him.

Besides, those that usually had no respect of their opponent usually lost.

Both fighters backed up a few steps, and each twirled their bat'leth in their hands a few times. Tomas wasn't as skilled with this weapon as he was with a katana. But that wasn't to say he couldn't use it. He was forced to on some occassions, and even killed with one before.

But that was life and death. Here, it was different.

The referee began the match, and the two opponents circled each other a couple of times, doing a few faints to try and find an opening. Tomas expected as much. No one here, besides Ro, had ever seen Tomas in hand to hand combat.

K'lintag stopped moving around in a circle, ready to engage full on. Tomas braced himself, ready to take on a defensive posture. Stamina wise, being of a mixed breed worked to his advantage. He didn't know the science behind it, but his stamina level was better then that of most pure blood Klingons.

Something with which Ro was grateful for many times over, or so she said.

Tomas seen K'lintag's feet move slightly, positioning himself for an attack. As the klingon charged it, Tomas was already reacting. Tomas brought his blade up to intercept's the other's, and parried it aside. At the same moment, Tomas spun to the left, bring him outside of K'lintag's range, and swung his bat'leth one handed at the base of the other's spine. The curved back of the weapon impacted at his targetted spot, and K'linga arched his back as the pain spread out.

It took him a few seconds before the wobbling in his legs stopped. K'lintag would of admitted, in a different place, that it was a smart move. It was just too bad that Tomas didn't follow up immediately and finish it off.

They both faced each other again, and the game began again. This time, K'lintag came in head on, alternating hits between one end of the bat'leth up high, the other down low. Tomas blocked each, and gave alittle ground each time, preventing the Klingon from getting too close.

The two blades locked together, and it became a strength test between them. Neither one was giving in.

Tomas then got his right leg back behind K'lintag's left leg, and pushed as hard as he could, sending the other back and caused him to tumble over Tomas's leg. This time Tomas followed up, bring the bat'leth down from over his head to impact on the other's chest.

But K'lintag had rolled over just in time, out of the way of the blade. Quickly he was up on his feet, about to charge in for another attack.

But Tomas never switched back into defensive mode. The heat of the fight was fulling flowing through him now, and he pressed his advantage. A few parries later, K'lintag's bat'leth went sailing across the floor, and Tomas spun and slashed a good size gash across the other's face. Immediately blood began to pour out of the cut on K'lintag's forhead and down into his eyes.

For moments after, he looked as if he would continue to fight Tomas, with only his bare hands if need me. But finally he turned and walked away, in defeat. The referee declared Tomas the winner.

Tomas once again bowed to the referee and the judges. He caught K'Hare looking at him, but he wasn't quite sure if that was a look of respect, or of something else in his eyes.

A few of the specators congratulated Tomas as he left the mat to put his weapon up on the wall,  and he spotted Ro smiling from ear to ear. At least he impressed one person here so far.

(I didn't think a reaction post needed its own thread but if it does, feel free to move it Smiley )

Sitting above the arena in the spectators gallery, Ro felt a comfortable frisson of familiarity in the surroundings that helped her relax.
She'd been to Klingon gatherings before, not as large as this to be sure, but the mood was similar. The first time she'd been to one, naturally without her father's knowledge or permission (they were in the middle of yet another fight she recalled and she hadnt been speaking to him; it was possible she'd gone to the event just to spite him but her memory was fuzzy on that part), she had found herself one of the very few non-Klingons in the seats.
Despite her friendships with Klingon Acaddemy students, it had made her nervous and on edge.
It felt like the entire crowd was baying for blood, or slaughter..or worse.
She'd come to realise, however, that it was nothing so simplistic; the assembled guests were there to admire (or disparage) the fighting skills of their fellows. To judge them on style, accuracy, and innovation. Technique with the chosen weaponry would also come under close scrutiny as would cunning and honor.
There were so MANY facets to the 'matches' she'd discovered, that it was almost like watching a well crafted dance.
She'd said as much to her companions, who'd laughed heartily, slapped her on the back, sending her about a foot across the room, and then muttered that 'Would she please not mention that in a loud voice because it would detract from the honor of those involved.'
She'd made a mental note then not to comment on the proceedings until she knew what terms might offend; but her fascination with everything had successfully buried her nerves.

This time, it was only a little different.
The man down in the centre ring was someone she loved, and while this fight was a test of skill, and not an honor-grudge to the death, she was still hoping he'd avoid being cut to ribbons.
She'd seen him in hand to hand combat before of course..on the holo-deck and in a real situation, and he was very skilled with the long curved blade he'd inherited from his Japanese tutor. His skills with the betleH were a little more..variable.
He balanced well though, moving on the balls of his feet like a cat, feinting well and keeping his eyes locked with those of his opponent.
She wasn't 100% sure about his fighting technique though, especially when he failed to follow up what looked like a winning blow to the lower back of K'lintag.
The amazonian Klingon female next to her sucked in her breath sharply at that maneouvre, and spat out a word which was lost to Ro as the crowd roared and cheered the 2 fighters on.

It was over in fairly short order after that, or so it seemed to the Wildcat's CEO.
There was a moment where it looked as if Tomas had TRIPPED his opponent as they tussled back and forth..the female next to her spat another word, this one Ro was sure she caught and it didn't mean 'oh dear', especially as it was followed up by some fist-shaking and stomping.
She couldn't see his eyes from this distance but she knew they would be shining as he pressed his advantage against K'lintag, who now looked as if he was under pressure for the very first time.
Tomas wanted to do well here very badly..he had things to prove..mostly to himself. She had little doubt now, as she watched her man finish off his 'foe' that he wanted to WIN. And it appeared he'd go to any lengths to do it.
Some of the spectators around her were muttering as they exited the arena, she caught snatches of conversations involving  words like 'honor', and not in a positive way either, but she brushed it aside for now.
She was here to support him, not advise him about Klingon etiquette and honor, and as he made his way up from the battle floor she greeted him with a smile that matched her pride in his determination.
