Problems connecting to domain
« on: Feb 14th, 2005, 11:16am »

I have heard that some people are having trouble getting to the website.  Right now, from what I have been told, it is people using a certain internet connection from the UK or surrounding areas.  Some ISP there is not resolving www.batlh.com to  66.211.140.3.   If you are having trouble connecting to the site send me email so I can make sure it isn't a problem at my end.  Also, complain to your ISP and make sure they put batlh.com and www.batlh.com in there DNS tables as  66.211.140.3.  You can also try putting this in your lmhosts file on a PC or your hosts file on a UNIX machine.

Another thing to try would be to use an anonymous proxy service.  They are designed to hide where you go from work or to hide who you are at the site itself.  Have a look here:  http://www.freeproxy.ru/en/free_proxy/cgi-proxy.htm  Some of these might install spyware on your box, most are simple funded by ads on the site and your connection to the remote site, in this case www.batlh.com/betleH is slow.

I tried the first one and it appeared OK to me, and it connected to my site, but it was slow and did have the ads.

Last year, using the yahoo list we had a problem with some messages never getting delivered.  It seems there are always issues and if this is why you can't get in, I can only say I am sorry it didn't work well for you, but there doesn't seem to be a best solution and I found out about this problem only recently.  So far, no one has emailed me directly about it and so I have only heard about it second hand.

(No, I don't need anyone to tell me how useless it is to post this here since anyone who needs it, can't see it.  I am posting it here so that others can pass this along and so if the proxy thing works, people can post that.)
