"Double the spice concentration," Ing told the recalcitrant replicator in his quarters, which beeped at him angrily. "Yes, confirm that, twice the amount after the previous doubling," Ing stated, starting to sound annoyed, "And make it chunkier by increasing the proportion of nuts by 30%."
A metal bowl appeared in the replicator, and Ing picked it up. Dipping a finger in, he tasted the light brown, chunky substance contained within. Nodding, he told the replicator, "Now, give me six strips of hard venison jerky, very spicy, roughly 5 centimeters wide by 22 long." A plate materialized with the request. Ing picked up one of the jerky strips and bit off the end, nodded again, and proceeded to stick the six pieces of jerky in the bowl equally spaced around the edges. "Keep the plate," Ing told the replicator, which dematerialized the plate for him. Placing the bowl back in the replicator, Ing told it, "Save this recipe as… 'Spicy peanut butter with jerky,' - and next time, put the meat in the sauce like it is in this bowl."
The replicator scanned the bowl and replied, "Recipe saved."
Ing scooped out some of the peanut butter on the end of one of the pieces of meat, and bit it off, chewing slowly. "Pretty good, for replicated food," Ing commented to himself. Now he just needed some bloodwine to wash it down with. But he wasn't about to drink the replicated stuff. Ing proceeded to leave his room, contemplating just how much his culinary tastes had changed in the past year. He had managed to get an edible breakfast without frequenting the crowded bars, he wondered where he could get some fresh bloodwine without having to fight through similar crowds.
