Ing was back in the medical lab where he had spent most of the day. The doctor he had been working with had long since left for the night, but not before having an in-depth discussion of the preliminary test results with Ing. Ing was now reading through some texts that explained the genetic expression process in more detail, at least the doctor had been able to point him directly to the information that would prove most useful to him. Ing paused in his reading. It was getting very late, even the activity in the bars would be dying down by this point in time. And he still had to assimilate all the information he had gleaned into a coherent report for K'Hare before morning. And it was a lot of information. Much as Ing was fascinated by the process through which the genetic code of DNA expressed itself into features in the organism it coded for, he realized that he would have to put aside his study of that phenomenon until another time. He had learned enough to be able to draw the appropriate conclusions about the tests he had run that day. It was time to start putting together the report, and running some simulations to confirm whatever conclusions he would end up putting into it. Ing quickly listed off in his head all the things he had to consider. The genetic tests he had spent the day on were at the top of the list, but the engineering puzzles he and roS had worked to uncover on the Scott, as well as what Aklev had reported to him about the armor were also significant. It seemed that these doubles did, indeed, hail from a mirror universe. And, more troubling, it seemed they had very precise control over their comings and goings between universes and that they were here for a specific purpose. They had a plan, and Ing hoped he could unravel what that plan was before it was too late.
