After Reynolds vs. Ness

After the match, Ness walked back to where the rest of the meH'Haj crew was standing.

K'Vok was frowning darkly, "I'm not pleased, Ness."

"Why?" Ness asked innocently, thinking back to tripping his opponent.

"You didn't fight honourably, you will have to pay for that."

"What do you mean?" Ness asked with a frown.

K'Vok sighed, "I mean...you'll have to be punished. Harshly."

"10 laps?" Ness asked.

"No, only 1..."

"Really?" Ness asked, "that doesn't seem too harsh."

"From the bottom of the station, to the top...via jefferies tubes."

"That's 2400 decks!" Ness exclaimed, "I can't do that!"

"Well, I guess you shouldn't have cheated then. After all, punishment is punishment...whether it takes you more than a day straight to do it or not."

"That's cruelty! What would the HoD say?" Ness asked.

"'He's your student'"

"But..." Ness began.

"You start at 0500." K'Vok said, "And afterwards, you will get a lecture."

"How long do I have to climb?" Ness asked.

"Until you reach the top...however, you may take breaks to keep from passing out, or your arms from completely losing power."

"I can not climb 2400 decks," Ness said, "that'd take me two days!"

"Then you might want to start early." K'Vok shrugged, "Or write out your will."

The silver-haired commander of Xavier Fleet Yards busied himself reviewing several PADDs while dictating to the computer. Having taken command in the midst of the tournament had become an organizational nightmare. He had intended to, despite having little interest therein, on attending some of the matches to show the flag but had not had the time.

Now he had to take a moment to field an odd request which had been referred up to him as no one else dared give an exemption to his security orders, his crew not yet knowing whether or not he would trust them to make such a decision. It would take some time for them to adjust to him and he to them.

The base's outgoing XO, who had become his senior aide, entered the room and announced the arrival. "K'Vok ne' to see you Admiral," Toralon, the dark-haired Human female, said as she quickly stepped back out.

Arelwynn rose and nodded as he motioned to a chair, "Please sit, ne'. I understand you have a request relating to our security procedures?"

K'Vok sat and looked around, "Nice office... Yes, I have a request. My HoD, Tapez, of the MeH'Haj, gave me an order to train this human petaQ in the ways of honour. Ness lagh faught dishonourably and is in need of punishment. I would like to have all decks open to him, by jefferies tubes, for this punishment."

Arelwynn raised an eyebrow as he began. He tried not to stand on practice but he was offended by the brashness of the Klingon officer. "First, that would require me having to reassign quite a good number of security officers to maintain the integrity of the base. Second, I'd prefer if you didn't curse. Is there not a more -- civil -- way to deal with this Ness?"

"Would it help if I said he used to be Federation?"

Arelwynn thought a moment before responding, "If he left on good terms and therefore has a good security standing, yes it probably would."

"He is in good standing with Starfleet." K'Vok answered, shifting slightly in the chair. "Is your office always this quiet?"

"I've not had it long enough to tell, but I would hope so. I'll give this request of yours my blessing as long as there is no objection from security. If there is nothing, else you may go."

"Thank you...sir." K'Vok added the last part as an afterthought.
