Tough love

Separ was tending to Ta'pez after his fight with Wolfe. Ta'pez had won but had been wounded profusly and had refused help from the federation Qel and even had not bothered with the traditional medicine until Separ had given him the "talk",.

She had used her past stance as his nurse and caretaker to insure he would get the proper care.

Their whole relationship was weird. She was younger then him but in these matters took seniority and he accept it. In turn they all knew how fiercly loyal she was to him.

PoQ had misgiving about this as it tied him to Ta'pez but in the end he had accepted it. The old man had projections about the two marrying, but neither Ta'pez nor Separ cared much for the old mans dreams.

The two had grown close during the long recovery period Ta'pez had expirienced due to the grivious injuries that brought him into the fold of the House of Chang to begin with.

"You shouldnt have pursued this fool." Separ said.

"The choice was not mine to make." Ta'pez said
"His way was dishonorable, I had to do what i did.

Separ did not say anything as she was about to place a balm on the deep cut. Ta'pez inhaled sharply and then drank bloodwine to ease the pain.

"It should pass soon" Separ said knowing that the balms biting touch also mean healing would commense soon.

"An admiral is not somebody who you want as your enemy." Separ said.

Ta'pez said nothing for a moment, but then finally spoke.

"I did what was right, he had fought without honor, sullying his rank and his position, if he were a klingon warrior he would be dead."

Separ just shook her head. "I have spent time with them. You know they are different, you should help such people and make them aware of this rather then turn their ignorance into animosity."

Ta'pez was silent, the stuborn kind of silent that drove Separ nuts.

"You know I am right " she said angrily. "You have lived among them, you know their ways."

"AND HE KNOWS OURS!" Ta'pez spat out. He winced as Separ pressed another balm on his wound.

A few seconds later he continued. "He has turned his back on our traditions and his own house," Ta'pez said "I have heard storie of his fathers unhappiness about this. He bears responsibility for this."

Separ looked up and with her piercing eyes made Ta'pez squirm. "So that justifies you?"

Ta'pez sighted. "No it does not, but I did what I thought was right at the moment, and you know this."

Separ realized that Ta'pez was right. He could have acted differently, moves that might not have created an enemy of the mongrel admiral.

"I cant show weakness now Separ." Ta'pez finally admitted. " Not with our joH not being among us any more."
