Q'ol and Kieran
« on: Mar 2nd, 2005, 10:48pm »

Kieran had sent Q'ol a message via Xavier's comnet, asking her to show up at the Legion. He wanted to apologise to her for the way he fought, and explain why.

Q'olavraH was in the quarters that she and wovqut were sharing putting the girl to bed when she got Kieran's message to meet him for a late supper in the Legion. She felt a twinge of anger that he had the nerve to ask her to drink with him after the way he'd fought against her.

She fought this down, and decided to go and see what he had to say. If nothing else, she could use some food and drink. She sent him back a reply saying she would be there.

So, Kieran arrived at the Legion in civillian clothes, and looked around for his ex-ship mate.

Kieran noticed that Q'ol had yet to arrive, and waited for her, finding a seat at the bar, and ordering water as he waited for K'rahl's wife to arrive.

Q'ol entered the Legion and after the eyes scanned the room for any threat she moved to the bar and settled on a stool next to Kieran. She grabbed the bloodwine that the barkeep knew to bring for her and swigged half then looked at the son of Michael.

Looking at the barkeep, Kieran said, "Put that and what ever else she would like on my tab."

The barkeep nodded and left. Kieran looked at Q'ol and said, "I suspect that you are quite angry with me for taking advantage of you when we fought? Would it help if I told you that I was hoping that I would't have had to fight you so early in the tournament?"

Q'ol took another small swallow and swished the very good bloodwine around her mouth before swallowing. "It was my own mistakes that allowed me to be defeated.... as for when we met in the tournament, that is left to fate and so we have no control over it. You are quite good with the betleH, though I can not figure why you made the choices you made in this tournament, I suppose you have your reasons."

She was thinking of his ties with II, but would not say as much.

Kieran studied her carefully for a moment, and then said, "I had to fight the Chang, and the fates decided to put you in my way, which I am sorry. I was asked to beat the Chang, to embarrass him here if at all possible, though for reasons not released to me." Kieran replied, searching for the right words to say, quietly, in the bar, without mentioning Meth by name.

"I would've fought you with more honor if ta'pez had already been taking care of."

Q'olavraH's eyebrows arched upward and she hastily hid her shock from the rest of the bar by taking a drink from her mug, but Kieran could read her, and he would know how he'd shocked her.

Once she was able to take a drink and get control of her features she asked very quietly, "But you do not know why? This was for your superiors in the Empire?"

"The Changs, like other Houses, have their share of enemies. It is not unknown for rival Houses to use II to embaress their enemies, and sometimes even their allies. As we take oaths of loyalty to the Empire above that of our House, it takes a special being to be a competent II Field Agent. All I was told was that I was 'to take Chang down a peg', to use a Human expression. I suspect that some one wanted Chang to be embarressed here, since he has won the past two years. At first, I thought it might be K'brd'Lok, to avenge you. But my superiors said that it was not. So, I am assuming that it is some other House or faction within the Empire at work."

Q'olavraH nodded and took a sip. "I do not think K'brd'lok would stoop to using II, not if my intelligence of their house is correct." Now was not the time to discuss her own suspicions, even if she thought Kieran might have information she would be interested in about K'Trol and Sinatra and that whole mess.

"I wish there was a way to find out who wanted him publicly humiliated.. I would send them a keg of good bloodwine!" She smiled.

Kieran smiled, and said, "I do not want there to be any hard feelings between our Houses, Q'ol, so that is why I have asked you here, to explain things in this non-Klingon fashion."

"If I ever find out, I will be sure to tell you." Kieran replied.

Q'olavraH chuckled at that. "Only when it is no longer important whether you tell me or not. I will speak to K'rahl about this. May I tell him all you have told me?"

"You may, but I would urge you to caution your husband not to share it, not even with his family. Not even with K'Hare, Q'ol." Kieran said.

Q'olavraH nodded. K'Hare would find the entire thing dishonorable, but maybe he would see the humor in it as well. "I will be cautious."

"The one is appreciative. I hope that K'rahl is not too displease with me, but even he will understand that orders are orders."

She nodded, "Indeed he will."

"Food?" Q'ol asked.

"Food would be good, as there is something else I have to discuss with you. I need some advice."

Q'olavraH smiled and waved at the barkeep then told him that they wanted some food, they ordered and then Q'ol gave Kieran her full attention.

"Shall we move to a table or is this fine?"

"A table would be better for this."

The two got up and moved to a table, taking their drinks with them. After they sat down,
Kieran pulled out the pip that the Special Operations Commander had given to him and placed it in front of Q'ol.

"Before I met with you, I had a meeting, where I was offered that pip, to add to my collar, along with some other, shall we say, interesting tidbits. It would also mean a transfer into a red uniform, but give me more discretion in my options while performing my duties." Kieran took a drink of his water, and continued, "It would also mean limiting myself in some ways, as I would not be working for the Empire in the capacity I have before."

Q'ol frowned over the rim of her mug as she took a drink.

She dropped her voice so that noone would overhear her.

"I do not .. enjoy working in secret.  I like to show my face and have people know exactly what I am about.  Lately I myself have had occassion to work in the darkness, to find out things I needed to know, that perhaps others did not wish me to know...."

She took another drink.  "What you are talking about doing is very dangerous.  Being who you are, you have two sets of loyalties.  What will you do when the one trys to infringe on the other?  Can you be loyal to two masters?  Can you keep the secrets of the one whom you have sworn an oath to, if the other insists on their need for that information?"

She looked at Kieran with a serious look, she could surmise what he was speaking of, without him coming right out and telling her, and he was walking headlong into danger as far as she could see.

"I already have two masters, being a part of the Federation-Klingon Officer Exchange Program. I also am used to working in secrecy, but you are right that a time will come when I will have to chose."

"I have worked in the shadows for a long time for the Empire. The Federation is offering me a chance to work in the open as a situational trouble-shooter and Mission Specialist. That is the conditions of the pip. If I stay where I am now, my chances of getting my own command in the Federation are slim. This oppurtunity would put me on the right track towards my own ship, otherwise I would have to wait, as others get ones first."

Taking a drink, Kieran continues, "And in the Empire, it would be even harder, being a human, commanding a ship day in and day out. I commanded the S'ten Hathos for a short time, but I was still under the authority of K'rahl. My own ship would be different. I would have to establish my own authority, and how many Klingons do you know would willingly follow a human, especially one of my background with II?"

Q'olavraH liked this human, and so she decided to be honest and blunt with him.

"Many Klingons would follow a human.. who showed honor at all times.  I was convinced that your heart is Klingon, but now I am .. undecided."

She finished off the tankard of bloodwine and sat it down and stared into Kieran's eyes.

"It is your choice.  If having a command is your objective, and you do not have a preferance as to whether it is Starfleet or in the Empire then you must choose the path you think is right.  You must also take your female's perspective into consideration.  If she wishes to follow you where you will go, will Starfleet allow it?  Must your son stay on Qo'noS or can he go with his parents?"

"I have only been away from my children for 20 days but it feels like an eternity.  My heart aches to see them... Be certain you take everything into consideration."  She said seriously.

Surprised, but appreciative of Q'ol's bluntness, Kieran replied, "It has been suggested that perhaps the `Human' father of the Lord of House Komar should stay away from the home world for a, shall we say, extended period of time, to allow the Lord to return to his roots, and re-learn his heritage, after his encounter with the Borg."

Kieran again paused, and then continued, "It has also been suggested that by my staying away, Giobhnie (Kieran's son) may be able to find a mate from a Noble House, and that Noble House may be able to ignore the fact that Giobhnie has Human blood running thru his veins, along with his Klingon."

"I am not sure which path I would take to gain a command: one could certainly be a quicker path, but the other could be more acceptable to my own people."

"The Honorable way would be to stay in the Federation for the time being, to allow my son to find a mate that my wife can approve of, to rebuild the House. Aryn (Kieran's wife) would come with me no matter where I go, permitted my job allows me, and of course Giobhnie too. Starfleet allows families to be with their officers where the situation safely allows for them. He can be Lord of the House no matter where he is. I miss them both, but a Warrior of the Empire must be ready to serve at all times, and in all capacities. What I do and what I have done I've done in service to the Empire. If some think that my actions are dishonourable, then that is their opinion. A loyal warrior does what needs to be done to serve the Empire."

Q'ol nodded as if satisfied with this answer.

"Perhaps now is the time for food and drinking.  You could always ask K'rahl his opinion on what you have been offered, I'm sure he would have an opinion."  She grinned and then signalled to the barkeep to send them two more drinks.

K'rahl finished exercising in the holdeck.  He had been working out for two hours and was more than a little aromatic...

He showered and made for the Legion.

He was surprised to see Q'olavraH drinking with Kieran, all seemed to look well.

He smiled to himself.  He had been putting off speaking with his friend due to the way he had fought Q'olavraH, concerned that doing so could worsen her mood towards him.

Seeing his Mate and his friend relaxing was more than welcoming.  He walked over to join them.

"Hello K'rahl. Come and join us," Kieran said as the Klingon walked up to their table. A moment later, a server came over and brought them food.

As K'rahl sat down, Kieran smirked at his former CO and said, "Are you done avoiding me now?"

He grinned back at Kieran.

"How is the House of Komar?" he asked, sidestepping the issue slightly.

He helped himself to a large portion of qagh.

"My son is doing well as the Lord of Komar, though he is still getting use to being out of the Collective. Its getting time to find a mate for him, since no mate will mean our House will stagnate and die. The House itself is small still, though we are trying to finance our own ship, to rebuild, though I suspect that a Komar ship will be a B'rel this time, and not a Vor'cha, and may not even be in mine or Giobhnie's lifetime."

Kieran helped himself to a bit of gagh, and took a drink of his water. "So, am I to be blacklisted by the K'brd'Lok for my actions during the tournament?" Kieran asked.

K'rahl nodded as he listened to the state of the House of Komar.  He tried to think of available be' in the House.  There were probably some suitable that could be considered.  He would discuss this with Q'olavraH later.

"Well as my Mate has accepted your hospitality here I assume she has allowed uyour transgressions to be put to the past."

He took a long swig of bloodwine.

"I will speak with K'Trol with regards to a b'rel.  Perhaps there might be one that we could pass your way."

Nodding, Kieran replied, "You would have to ask her about my transgression, but one could assume so." And Kieran looked at Q'ol, to see if she would say anything.

Kieran continued, "The House of Komar would be in your debt for such a gift as a b'rel."

Finishing up, Kieran stood, and said, "Well, I must be off early in the morning, and the station's doctor told me to take it easy tonight. So, I will take my leave of you both, and I look forward to seeing you again. Thank you Q'ol for the advice, and thank you K'rahl for your offer, I shall consider them both and contact my son." Bowing in respect to both of them, Kieran then shook hands with both and took his leave of them.

After Kieran had left K'rahl spoke.

"Perhaps we should look for a be' within our House for the Lord of Komar." he took a drink.

"They are no power at the moment but it is better to have them as an ally."

Of all those he had fought beside Kieran was probably the closest thing to a real friend that K'rahl had.  All his closest allies were blood relatives, except his Mate of course.

Q'ol had been drinking and listening to the males converse.

When Kieran looked at her she had merely grinned and waved his comment off.

Now that he had walked away she turned her attention to K'rahl.

"There are a few young be' who might be interested, however I think Giobhnie is still to young.  He needs time to prove himself."

She took a swig from her tankard of bloodwine as several possibilities went through her mind.  She was very familiar with all of the young be'pu' who were on the planet at KDB.  She could also think of one or two who resided in the main compound on Qo'noS as well.

"If you command it I will get in touch with your mother and we can speak of this, and then either she or I can contact Kieran's mate.  Keep in mind however that the young male might have ideas of his own on the subject."

She disliked political unions and would not be party to setting up one that was set in stone, it would not hurt however to let the young male make the aquiantance of several suitable p'Dra'on females.
