Title: Kieran cometh
Post by Kieran on Feb 12th, 2006, 7:07pm

See Setting things up (http://www.betleh.com/cgi-bin/b4/YaBB.pl?num=1139469454/0) to see where Kieran was prior.

Kieran had arrived quietly at the welcoming ceremony, dressed in civilian clothes with the Komar baldric. He had ate lunch and received notice that K'ral, Q'ol, K'Trol and Kur'rk had all arrived on the starbase, but no Be'thal yet. If she hadn't arrived by the evening, he would use his II access and see if he could find out where she was.

Kieran stood quietly in the back, and scanned the crowd, looking to see if where who was, and who was partnered with whom.

Ktrol wrote:
K'Trol ignored the Federation speakers.  His eyes were on K'rahl and Kur'rk.

He also watched the crowd.  He saw the Komar dog.  Another that needed to be swept aside, he would leave II almost to the last.  He would cleanse them the same day he launched for Qo'noS.

The speeches from the Federation were thankfully short.

Looking at K'Hare when he spoke he was dispassionate.  This one was no use to him.  He would have ben no use if Chang had succeeded either.  In truth if Chang had succeeded this one might have been the current threat to the Empire.  As it was he was simply one step that would be taken after the House War was complete.

Kieran made eye contact with K'Trol, K'rahl's grandfather had never much liked him, and the feeling was mutual. Imperial Intelligence was wary of K'Trol, and Kieran knew to keep his distance, especially with the current inter-House warfare.

Kieran quietly made his way through the crowd, disappearing from K'Trol's vision.

Krahl wrote:
K'rahl listened with disinterest to Duerkes, not out of any dislike of the man, Duerkes was a fine officer with a sound reputation.  No, he was simply distracted by all that lay ahead.

He would have been here without the House War but he knew there would have been a great difference in other circumstances.  He would be here to support Q'olavraH, not just to be seen in public defying K'Trol.  He would possiblty even have entered himself.  He would be relaxed.

Looking to his father he saw that the old warrior was listening intently to the speeches.

He heard Duerkes hand over to his 'blood brother' and turned to look at the Commander of KDB.

He listened to K'Hare and he cursed quietly as though he'd not admit it publivly he knew K'Hare was right.  He had made mistakes in this very contest, when he had allowed his pride come before his honour.  This was a game, not war.  He should never have sunk to the level of Ta'pez.  He should have fought cleanly, though that would have brought defeat.  His pride had blinded him more than once.

He looked down to his hands.  Hands that had broken the necks of traitors to the Empire.  Hands that had choked the life out of a Hirogen Drone.  Hands that had eased friends from this life towards the Great Halls.  Hands that had held the one close to his heart and cradled two tiny babies.  All these things were things of honour, and there were more of them that he had performed over and over again.

He looked away from them as a few examples of what they had done inco0rrectly came to him.  They were few, yet they were enough that when question of the integrety of his House's honour were raised she could not be certain of his innocence.

He refused to show anything of his thoughts on his face.

Kieran had moved through the crowd, watching K'rahl as he listened to the speechs, but makiing sure to not be seen by his old Commander, his sister,  or his two shieldmaidens. Finally, near the end of K'hare's speech, he found himself in striking distance. If he had been an assassing, He could probably kill K'rahl now before his security would get him.

Kieran quietly slipped into an open spot in K'rahl's security and stepped up to the rather tall Klingon, who was a head and a half taller then the human engineer and said quietly, in the language of K'brd'Lok, "Next time, I would suggest at least another shieldmaiden, qumwI'"

Hearing his dialect spoken in a male voice he turned round quickly, ready to defend himself.

Seeing Kieran he laughed.

"Greetings Sogh la'!" he noticed the rank Kieran wore, "or is it la' now?"

He offered his arm to Kieran in greeting.

B'muan in the meantime quietly admonished the Shieldmaidens for allowing the II officer to make them look foolish.

Taking the offered arm, Kieran smirked, "la', and Chief Engineer of the Durga, K'rahl, and you, Governor of Klach d'kel Brakt now. How does the House war with your grandsire go?"

"Early batles all my way.  We took the Compound on Klach d'kel Brakt first after declaring breaking away from the House of K'brd'Lok.  The other facilities on the planet that belonged to the Housesof the p'Dra'on all declared for me."

He turned to check where K'Trol and his party were and when he was satisfied they were heading away from the hall he continued.

"The first space battle involved K'orm'Ra.  He was attacked by threevessels co-ordinated by tarQIn," he knew Kieran knew the p'Dra'on Head of Intelligence.

"Things were against K'orm'ra until our old friends rit'arn and MutuH arrived in their ships and turned the tide.  tarQIn escaped but the other ships were destroyed."

He paused.

"Then about a week ago my mother's vessel broke out of Qo'noS, the p'Dra'on had her held down.  She should be meeting with K'orm'ra soon at mu'HamSa.  Hopefully raising more support there to form a second fleet for me."

Kieran had indeed heard the name of tarQIn, and knew him too, though it had 2 years since he had last seen him. "I am sorry that you were not able to dispatch tarQIn, this one would not be sad to see him dispatched to Grethor. He served II for a time, but then left to pursue his own agenda. His loyalty was not to the Empire first, but to himself."

Pausing for a moment, Kieran asked, "Would another ship or five help you in your cause?"

K'rahl grinned widely at the offer.

"The House of Komar are kind." he said.  "At the moment it is good to know who will stand with me, if the time comes."

He thought a moment.  "I could give you a squad of weHwI' for that ship.  I have some that were not originally of the p'Dra'on.  They are loyal, members of my House, but as they are not known to Q'Trol they will draw less suspicion towards you."

"Then, if I need to call for aid, you will have an added advantage."

"I will need to contact the homeworld. Giobhnie will have to give ultimate approval, but I believe my son will see the benefit of an alliance with you. Komar only has one b'rel, but I believe I can get 4 House Khemerra ships for you as well."

Kieran looked at K'rahl's expression, and said, "Did you not know Giobhnie has taken over rule of the House? Starfleet recalled me, and sent me on a mission I would possibly not come home from, so his mother and I decided that he was ready to rule without a regeant. Khemerra sent over 15 warriors who pledged their full loyalty to House Komar, figuring that with me gone, others might try to prey on our House, and since Komar and Khemerra share common ancestry, we accepted. Our b'rel is crewed, but we would definately appreciate additional warriors, especiall K'rahl ones. We could crew a second ship and keep some on the homeworld to guard the compound."

"Is your son ready for this?" he was concerned.  "He has his mother to advise him of course."

He saw Kur'rk heading towards them.

"I need to go, my first fight is soon." Kur'rk said.

Looking at Kieran Kur'rk smiled.  "You are well Son of Michael?"

"B'Muan, go with Father.  Send a message to rit'arn also.  a dozen weHwI' are to go to the House of Komar.  Make it clear that they must be from the most loyal that were not of the p'Dra'on before,"

B'muan nodded and awaited her Father.

Kieran nodded, "Aryn still advises him. Unfortunately, there was not much choice. If Giobhnie didn't take over, there were threats to dsiband our house and take what is Komar's. I suspect ta'pez and the chengs, but I can not prove it. Khemerra came and helped, even though he isn't fond of me, he is fond of Giobhnie for some reason Aryn and I do not understand."

Kieran bowed respectfully to K'rahl's father as he approached, and replied, "The one is well. And you?"

Kieran said to B'Muan and K'rahl, "I will contact Giobhnie and tell him to be expecting your weHwI'. Your friendship is appreciated."
