Title: putting the past to rest
Post by satian on Feb 21st, 2006, 2:28am

After a lot of though and meditation Satian had made a decision. the Blade of a dead man was no reason to send 2 houses to war. He felt no loss of honor in meeting her request as she was the only surviving member of the House and it had been his intention to return it to her anyway.

Changing into the Black Sp/ops dress uniform he strapped on his house Dagger.  He then placed G'trel's father blade in a wooden box with the symbol of house Satian engraved on its top, black ribbon was wrapped around the front corners of the boxes lid and the box was lined with blood red velvet.

Satian had brought it to the tourney incase an opportunity had presented itself.  It had.

Satian then left his quarters and headed to the  meH'Haj. There was a young warrior he had to see.

ON:

Satian was on the way to the meH'Haj he happened on his target walking with toreQ.  he stopped in front of them and looked toreQ straight in the eye.  “I will speak to this young warrior.”

toreQ stepped in front of the boy, shielding him.  "I must know your intentions first."

Tariln looked up at toreQ and moved next to him his eyes going to Satian and instantly remembering him from the mess hall, "Come uncle,  we have other things to take care of."  He said stepping with out fear around Satian and continuing down the hall.

“I am Satian, son of Kang, lord of house Satian and I have house business to discuss with you Tariln.”

toreQ snapped, "I said asked you your intentions.  You will not get to him without going threw me first!" toreQ of course had no control if the boy chose to answer.  But he still moved in between them.

Tarlin stopped and looked back at him, "I am Tarlin son of G'Tar House of Qolrth and your kind of business does not interest me." He hissed

“If you are half the warrior your grand father was you will hear me.” Satian looked at toreQ, “your charge is in no danger. this is between him and me and a personal matter of honor.”  He then returned his attention back to the boy.

"Do I have your word for that?  Can I trust your word?"  toreQ said as he met Satian's eyes.

"I am not his charge, and if you think you are a threat to me you are sadly mistaken Satian son of Kang." He said coldly. He looked at toreQ then, "I can take care of my self."

Satian removed his house blade from his belt and offered it handle first to toreQ,  you have my word

Tarlin scoffed, "I am not a child, Stop acting as if I am."

"You are a child, until you reach Age of ascension!"  toreQ snapped before he realized the error of speaking it out loud.  However he accepted the blade

again addressing the boy, “well said son of G'tar. I have come to return to you something of your grandfathers.”  Satian then offered the wooden box to Tarlin, “by your actions this day you have proved you are ready to receive this.”

Tarlin raised a brow, " I am not a child, I have spilled blood and earned my honor as anyone else."  He looked at the box Satian offered and then after a moment took it. "My mother,  this is rightfully hers not mine.  I am not the eldest house member."

toreQ sighed and kept quiet.  Once more he felt out of place

“you are eldest male of that line so it is rightfully yours.  I will tell you I killed your grandfather in combat.  he died with honor sinking that blade into my flesh.”

Tarlin opened the box and saw the markings on it. "I am the eldest son of many lines."  He said as if it was a small matter, "When I reach the age of ascension I will have to choose which I will be in heir too.  You can rest assured this dead house wont be it." He said closing the box. "Thank you though my mother will be pleased to have this."

toreQ watched carefully, then looked at Satian.  He wasn't sure what to make of him now.  But he wasn't sure he could ever fully trust anyone of the House Satian.  "Are you ready Tarlin?  We can stop by and let you give it to her in person."

Satian gave the boy a small bow. “Live with honor Tarlin, son of G'tar.  There will be no war between our houses this matter is ended.”

Tarlin looked at it, "Its really not worth the time." he said, "But if you wish too uncle I will be honored to do so." He eyed Satian. "You ever attack my mother,  you are right there will be no war only your blood on my blade," He said

“your mother and I were once friends, I hold no malice against her”

Tarlin nodded, "I am aware of that.  She speaks highly of you,  Or did before taking to the meHHaj.  I am sure we shall meet again." Tarlin looked at toreQ as if to ask 'what now'?

"Our Houses have no war, but they will have your back if you harm the last of that bloodline...” toreQ added.

“I have spent a lifetime seeing no harm came to her,  I will not stop now. in this we have a common interest.”

toreQ then looked down at the boy, "Let us see your Mother...  I am sure she will be 'happy' to see you."

“toreQ, my blade” Satian motioned

"So we have."  toreQ said handing the blade back.

Tarlin merely shook his head, " ‘Happy’ is not the word I would choose uncle,  If I need any protection it will be from her."
Satian chuckled as he began to walk away,  hopping that toreQ knew about her right hook

toreQ chuckled as well...  "Yes, your mother is a strong woman..."

Tarlin watch Satian a few moments then a thought came to mind, "Satian son of Kang, I would be honored to receive you as company come dinner tomorrow."

Satian turned and walked back to Tarlin, “the honor would be mine, I accept”

Tarlin nodded then looked to toreQ "Its not her strength that scares me,  Its what she says and thinks." He shrugged and looked at Satian, " Well met, I will see you then,"

“until then young warrior”

Satian then turned to toreQ, “its a pitty i will not see her face when you inform her.”

"If only I was so lucky," Tarlin said.

toreQ nodded silently, his thoughts to himself.  "Are you ready?"

Tarlin nodded, "I always am uncle." He gave one last nod to Satain then contnued down the hall handling the award box with ease as he went.

toreQ walked behind him, letting the boy feel more in charge now.
