The doors to the holodeck swooshed open and bryan lead bettina inside.They were on the deck of a large sailing ship.Off in the distance the sun slowly began to set behind large fluffy white clouds the entire sky was an amazing orange red color.A warm tropical breeze blew thru there hair.Bryan wearing a flowery hawaiian shirt and khaki shorts lead a similarly dressed bettina to the railing of the ship.Below in the water a pair of dolphins played a game that looked like tag if dolphins actually played games like that.Bryan looked out over the water and took bettinas hand and gave it a soft kiss.

"This is a program i use quite a bit on the cario.Helps me relax."It's so beautifull here."

Bryan turned and looke dinto bettina's eyes.

"But its nothing compared to you."

It was a wonderful setting, peaceful and calming. The breeze felt good, and carried the tang of salt air. Grinning, she leaned over the railing to look down at the dolphins, then straightened as he spoke. "Flattery will get you everywhere," she joked a little, trying not to get completely caught in the serious tone. She couldn't let herself do that, and she didn't think he would...there were words that would go unspoken.

With a sigh, she leaned her head against his shoulder, looking out at the water, reaching to hold his hand. She wanted just to be here with him, to absorb him and learn him and know him...But too many words, saying it out loud...she was afraid that would ruin what they shared, and make it all the more difficult when they had to part.

"I wish you could see the Ceres Sea...the waters are so blue they are almost translucent. And there are cliffs and formations along the shore line, and the beaches are white..." Sighing, she turned to look up at him. "You should try to get to Atlantis someday."

Bryan smiled."It sounds like a nice place maybe when i have my next leave."
They both knew deep down it was a mostly empty promise.....starship captains rarely had time for leave.
Bryan turned around he could have sworn he saw someone move behind them....there shouldnt have been anyone else in the program......he shrugged his shoulders and turned back to bettina.

"This is a unique ship its called the Prinz Maurits the program when you play it is filled with some interesting passengers and crew.I'm quite found of a fellow named Cook."Bryan smiled.I used to read about his adventures when i was a boy he was quite the adventurer."Bryan turned around again he could have sworn he heard the holodeck door open.

Bryan turned around he could have sworn he saw someone move behind them....there shouldn't have been anyone else in the program......he shrugged his shoulders and turned back to Bettina.

She followed his gaze for a moment, then smiled and looked up, placing a hand on his chest. "I'll look forward to it..." All the while, she was trying to separate herself, preparing for the inevitable...

"I used to read about his adventures when i was a boy he was quite the adventurer." Bryan turned around again he could have sworn he heard the holodeck door open.

"Oh, it sounds wonderful!" She glanced over her shoulder, then looked back at him. "Captain Cook? I think we studied some about him in school...didn't he discover Hawaii or something?" Then her grin turned mischievous. "There are no ladies in this program that I should be jealous of, are there?"

Bryan flashed his wicked smile."Never i could never find anyone as perfect for me as you are."
Bryan leaned in and gave bettina a light kiss on the cheek.He turned around again as his peripheral vision caught sight of some movement.

Now Bettina caught it as well and frowned. "Was there someone else here?" Of course, she was referring to holographic 'someones'. Turning to him, she wrapped her arms around his neck, pressing close to him. "You know you don't need anyone else to make it perfect?" Smiling, she started to place little kisses on his neck and chin. "And I don't know that I can't stand any competition..."

Bryan leaned in close to bettina."You have nothing to worry about."He brought his lips to hers in a passionate kiss.The place the moment in time made it all the more perfect.

Somewhere in the shadows of the ships rigging someone watched and waited.

Sighing happily, she melted against him, her arms around his neck, content just to kiss him, to be with him. "I think I knew that," she whispered, then returned to the kissing. While...other things...were enjoyable, she liked this best, maybe because the sensations were not so overpowering that she was unaware of just about everything..."Let's just stay here...on the ship...never leave..."

Bryan wished they could for all to soon this was going to be over.
He would go one way she would go another.He shook the thought from his mind and smiled.
"We could try to stay here forever but im not sure i have enough latinum for that!"

Alex stood suspended in the upper rigging of the sailing ship watching the two below.
He had left admiral clawson abruptly and came directly here.He held a phaser in his hands and waited for a shot to open up.Somewhere in the back of his mind he knew this was wrong but he couldn't figure out why it was wrong.

"Too bad..." Sighing, she leaned back against him, looking out in the water as the wind ruffled through her hair. "It's too bad we can't just live in..." Closing her eyes, she shook her head and bit her lip. She had to stop thinking this way or she would never be able to leave. "Of course," she managed to whisper, "I'd miss the modern conveniences, so I suppose this isn't so perfect after all..." It was a sorry attempt to lighten the mood.

Bryan offered a weak smile."Yeah it would be fun for awhile but then reality would set in........"
He was trying to justify not feeling the way he did.....it wasn't working.He hugged her tighter and just gazed out over the water with her.Neither of them noticed the person climbing down the aft sail.

"It's nice to pretend." She shifted so that her back was to him as she looked out at the water, and wrapped her arms over his. "Just hold me for a minute," she whispered, biting her lip, fighting back tears. This wasn't supposed to be happening this way. She was just here to see to her crewmates, then go home...

Bryan could feel bettina start to shake in his arms a little.He looked down at her and could see a few tears begin to fall from her eyes.The sight made bryan very happy and very sad all at the same time.She had to feel the same way the bryan did.He was about to say something when he felt a thud on the deck behind them.He turned his head slowly around and saw only a blured image of someone as a fist impacted his head.He reacted instantly he spun around keeping bettina behind him he shook his head to clear it and saw only the blury image of someone masking there appearance within the holodeck.He shot a fist out at the attacker catching him on the shoulder.The attacker lunged at bryan with both his fist clenched together bringing them down on his neck sending bryan stumbling backward.the attacker pulled out a phaser and fired it in bryans direction the hit missed and disrupted the holo image on the rear wall of the deck.Bryan grabbed bettina by the arm and ran toward the exit.

"Computer!ARCH!"

The arch appeared and they both ran thru and into the corridor.Bryan turned around and locked down the holodeck sealing the attacker inside.

ON:<Holodeck 8>
Alex scowled as the image of the ship fizzled away and back into the decks holomatrix.It was a calculated risk not enterring the deck himself cross linking the two decks had not been hard and couldnt be traced back to this deck or chadwick.Cash got away again and alex would have to think of a more dirty approach........

Bettina let out a shriek as Bryan was attacked, and as she was pushed against the railing she relaxed a little, thinking it was just a bit of adventure that he had built into the program. But then there was phaser fire and she was being dragged toward the doors. Once outside, she looked back at the holodeck. "What was that?" she asked, turning to look at Bryan, alarmed. "Are you all right?" She reached up to touch his bruised cheek, then shook her head. "We should call security..."

Bryan was gasping for breath as he tapped his com badge.
=/\=Cash to chadwick we have an emergency in holodeck 3.=/\=
Bryan turned as he saw chadwick round the corner he must have
been in the area he thought.

"Your lucky your so close lt.We were attacked in the holodeck.
I managed to lock him up inside."

Alex shrugged his shoulders."I was waiting for someone outside holodeck 9
when i heard your call.Let's see who's inside."

Bryan opened the door to the now deactivated holodeck.Chadwick walked inside and looked around.
"Looks like theres nobody in here captain."He took out a tricorder and began to scan the room.
"You sure it was actually someone and not a holodeck glitch?"

Bryan looked around the empty holodeck.
"He had a phaser."

"Yes, sir," Bettina added from outside the holodeck. She wasn't about to go back in. "Look..." She pointed to the burn mark on the back wall. "What about the computer records, wouldn't they show something?" She had her arms wrapped around herself.

Bryan pointed to the mark as well.chadwick didnt appear interested.
"There was someone in here."

He watched as alex walked inside and ran his fingers over the burn mark.He turned back toward bryan.

"I do believe you but........sometimes holodeck safeties can be disabled holoprograms can mess up."

He smiled as he watched bryan take bettina in his arms to comfort her.

"We know a real person from a holodeck simulation."Like she said check the records."Bryan said starting to get annoyed.

"Oh i will for sure.You can count on that."alex replied looking not very interested."For now i'd advise you both to head to somewhere public or your quarters.If you'd like i can assign a guard to watch over you."

Bryan paused a moment and thought.
"No that won't be necessary we can go back to my quarters for a bit.I have a function to go to later."
He looked down at bettina and smiled."I'd like for you to go with me....its a formal affair."He ledook back up for chadwick and the security man was gone."That man is very odd.....always vanishing.So what do you say?Want to trip the light fantastic with an old man?"He tried to talk to her in his most calming voice.

"Function?" She raised an eyebrow, looking back at the holodeck, then shrugged.

He looked down at Bettina and smiled. "I'd like for you to go with me....its a formal affair." He looked back up for Chadwick and the security man was gone. "That man is very odd.....always vanishing. So what do you say? Want to trip the light fantastic with an old man?" He tried to talk to her in his most calming voice.

"Dance? Oh, well..." She wrapped her arm around his, holding tightly, still a bit shaken. "All right...it sounds like fun!" In truth, she was not much into formal affairs, but as long as it was with him, she really didn't care! "Formal, huh? What time? I need to make sure my t-shirts are pressed!" She laughed.

Bryan smiled."This evening around seven."Bryan smiled "I can have something sent for you to wear if you don't have anything."Bryan began to walk them away from the holodeck area and into the main promenade corridor.

"Oh, I think I can come up with something..." Bettina smiled and squeezed his hand. "I don't think you'll be disappointed!" While she preferred casual dress, it was fun to dress up sometimes. Then she turned more serious. "Bryan, why would someone attack you on the holodeck and how could he do it without anyone knowing he was there?"

Bryan shook his head."I'm not sure.I've not made many friends in my years as a co it could have been anyone with a vendetta against me.As for how i have no idea.....but i do know this...Something isnt right on this station something is not right at all."

Clinging to his arm, she looked up at him. "I suppose Security will handle it...but aren't you worried? What if they try again? Maybe you should go somewhere safe?" It made her mad that someone was interfering with their time together, it was so precious. "I don't want you hurt..."

The door swooshed shut and Bettina suddenly turned and threw her arms around Bryan's neck, kissing him deeply, her body pressing his against the wall of the turbolift. But as the door opened again, she was standing demurely at his side, tugging on the hem of her shirt and smiling...
