If you see anything like: ${value} on your bio when you view it, it means you haven't answered some question on the bio form. The bio program is template based. So you fill out a form and it takes your answers and sticks them into the template. If you fill out an entry on the bio edit form named Char_name then anywhere the program finds ${Char_name} in the template, your name is displayed. Now, you can't see the template. You view the bio, i.e. the template after values have been entered. But when you are editing the bio for the first time sometimes you will see something like ${combat_theory} on the form. You need to remove that and replace it with the appropriate text. I have seen some people replace ${Char_name} with "${Bob Smith}". You don't need to type in the ${}. Just replace entries on the bio with the text you want.
