The kost-Kejal
Feb 9th, 2006, 11:02pm

ON:<Bajoran Restaurant kost-Kejal across from the lucky strike>

Bryan entered the restaurant dressed in his civilian clothes for the first time in almost a year....it sure felt good. He asked the nearest waiter where his new friend might be sitting. The bajoran waiter pointed to a booth in the back.

Thank you my good man could you please send over a bottle of springwine?

"Of course sir right away" the waiter replied.

Bryan smiled as he saw she was sketching something on a pad and seemed to be quite into her work.
He admired artists and there skill. She looked up from her work just as he approached and smiled.

"So what do you think of just plain old Bryan?"

He raised his arms and did a comic model twirl.

Laughing, Bettina closed her pad and stood, assessing him.  "Oh, well, I think you are handsome...not plain at all.  And goodness!  Such moves!  I'm impressed!  With moves like that you shouldn't have any problems in the tournament.  Where did you learn them?

Years of practice!

Bryan laughed as he sat down.He hadn't laughed like that in ....in well in a long time. This felt good
being here in the company of someone like her.He didnt want it to end.

I Hope I'll do well in the tournament It's not my main reason for coming here it was mostly for a vacation but i thought testing my skill against some of the finest warriors in the quadrant would be thrilling and a good learning experiance.

But enough about me myself and I.Tell me about yourself.I'd like to know more about you....for instance that drawing pad?

"Ah, the batter-your-brains-in vacation...I've heard of it, but never really felt compelled to try it!"  She grinned and rolled her eyes.

But enough about me myself and I.  Tell me about yourself.I'd like to know more about you....for instance that drawing pad?

"That?  Oh, that's nothing..."  Her cheeks pinkened as she closed the pad and slid it to the side.  "I just pass time that way.  I write in it, and draw a little...it's better than breaking things..."  Grinning sheepishly, she added, "I had a tendency to throw things when I was little and I'd get frustrated.  And I got frustrated a lot.  So my mother gave me a paper pad and some pencils..."

Sounds like my mother she did something similar when i was young i had trouble concentrating in school so she bought me model starships to build when to teach me patients and concentration......i still dabble in them to this day.

Bryan sudeenly thought back to his mother. He hadn't known her for long. She wouldn't approve of how his life turned out.....or what he was here to do at the tournament.A flash of guilt played across his face Bettina seemed to notice.Bryan suddenly felt very ashamed.

"Oh, really?"  Bettina smiled.  "I dabbled a little when I was young, but didn't have the patience to wait for the adhesive to dry and they would kinda fall apart..."  She noticed that he didn't seem to be paying attention, but from the reflective expression on his face, she didn't mind.

Bryan suddenly thought back to his mother. He hadn't known her for long. She wouldn't approve of how his life turned out.....or what he was here to do at the tournament. A flash of guilt played across his face Bettina seemed to notice. Bryan suddenly felt very ashamed.

Bryan looked up into Bettina's eyes he had never met an understanding genuine caring person in his life before. When she looked at him like that it seemed to make his past and the terrible things he had done not hurt his soul as much.

I'm sorry i was just thinking about the path my life has taken.

Bryan paused so wanting to tell her everything but he was afraid of what she would think of him......He didnt want to lie to her ,But why?he just met her and she had quite an effect on him almost making him seem lke a different person like the man he could.....be.He decided some place more quiet would be nice they still had some time before the opening ceremony.

We still have a little time before the welcoming ceremony where would you suggest?

"The path that led here?"  Smiling softly, she looked into his eyes, then blushed.  *That had been cheesy!*  But somehow, he made her feel kind of warm and funny inside...in a good way!

"I don't know the station that well..."  She shrugged.  "Are there gardens or anything?  We could always just go to my quarters..."  The red in her cheeks deepened as she stammered, "I mean, just to talk, you know..?"  Not that she would necessarily mind a bit more, a thought that she pushed aside even as her cheeks grew warmer!

Bryan smiled and placed his hand back on her's.Wanting to ease her embarrasment.Something special was happening to him and he wanted to make it last as long as he could.

Sure we can go back to your quarters and talk a bit more.I'd really like that.

Bryan stood and offered his arm to bettina.

"Well, then, all right!"  Taking his arm, she walked with a light step.  He made her feel good, and she needed that...he didn't judge her for being just a stupid petty officer at her age...for that matter, it seemed more like they were just people...

"I'm afraid it isn't much," she said as she opened the door to her room.  It was more like a cubicle, but then, it was hardly permanent quarters.  Scooting in ahead of him, she scooped some discarded clothes from the bed and shoved them under the pillow.  Most of her things had been stowed in the closet, but she had been in a hurry to get out and see the station.

"Have a seat..."  She gestured to a stuffed chair, then sighed as she quickly snagged her nightgown out of in and hid that under the pillow as well.  As he sat, she settled on the bed, curling her legs under her.  "Ummm..so..."  Suddenly, she felt awkward, not exactly sure how to broach the subject of...well, whatever it was they were going to talk about.  Just as suddenly, she laughed.

Bryan smiled her laugh was enough to calm his nerves and break the tension that had been
forming. She looked at him with such beautifull eyes.Bryan liked that. They both just starred into each others eyes for a second but it seemed like hours......finally bryan spoke.

"I love your laugh it makes me forget my troubles.Just being with you makes me feel better.I've never met anyone like you before.

Bryan suddenly felt a little embarrased saying all that all at once.He hopped he hadn't been to forward.

"Maybe because there isn't anyone like me?"  Crossing her eyes, she twisted up her face, then laughed again.  "Good thing, I think! Starfleet couldn't do with more than one of me.  They'd come to a grinding halt!"  Then she shrugged and smiled.  "You seem different, too..." her shoulders raised in a shrug, then she added hastily, "but in a good way!  And it's nice to see you smile."  Then

Bryan stopped smiling his face ashen and serious. He wanted to tell her the truth so badly. To confess his sins of the past.....but they might be to much for bettina to forgive right now and he didnt want to lose what was forming between them.

I'm a starship captain BettinaI've had to do things give orders that have cost lives.....lots of lives.sometimes it bothers me what ive done.....what ive had to do...

Bryan looked into her beautifull eyes as he spoke she seemed to genuinely care about what he was saying and how he was feeling.Bryan wanted desperatly to hold her......to be with her.He stopped and waited for her to speak again.

"That's part of being a Captain, isn't it?"  She went over to kneel in front of him, her hands on his knees as she looked up into his eyes.  "We all have to do our jobs, and sometimes things don't work out the way we want them to.  I've lost patients before because..."

Hesitating, she blinked, then stared into his eyes.  There was an electricity it seemed, a connecting of souls, and it seemed wrong to ruin that by discussing the cold, harsh realities of life...

No, this was beyond that and it almost seemed a travesty to ruin it with talk...

Reaching up, she caressed his cheek, then moved up to kiss his lips ever so softly before crouching again, hoping he wasn't angry with her...she didn't think so...

Bryan looked down at her his heart full of warmth. They just stared into each others eyes for the longest time.Bryan reached out with his hand and caressed the nape of her neck. She smiled again and touched his hand softly.Bryan smiled and pulled her up close to him. There lips met again in another kiss more electric than before.where ever this went what ever happened Bryan knew that in this place in this moment he was truely happy and at peace thanks to her.
