K'rahl listened with disinterest to Duerkes, not out of any dislike of the man, Duerkes was a fine officer with a sound reputation. No, he was simply distracted by all that lay ahead. He would have been here without the House War but he knew there would have been a great difference in other circumstances. He would be here to support Q'olavraH, not just to be seen in public defying K'Trol. He would possiblty even have entered himself. He would be relaxed. Looking to his father he saw that the old warrior was listening intently to the speeches. He heard Duerkes hand over to his 'blood brother' and turned to look at the Commander of KDB. He listened to K'Hare and he cursed quietly as though he'd not admit it publivly he knew K'Hare was right. He had made mistakes in this very contest, when he had allowed his pride come before his honour. This was a game, not war. He should never have sunk to the level of Ta'pez. He should have fought cleanly, though that would have brought defeat. His pride had blinded him more than once. He looked down to his hands. Hands that had broken the necks of traitors to the Empire. Hands that had choked the life out of a Hirogen Drone. Hands that had eased friends from this life towards the Great Halls. Hands that had held the one close to his heart and cradled two tiny babies. All these things were things of honour, and there were more of them that he had performed over and over again. He looked away from them as a few examples of what they had done inco0rrectly came to him. They were few, yet they were enough that when question of the integrety of his House's honour were raised she could not be certain of his innocence. He refused to show anything of his thoughts on his face.
