K'rahl listened with disinterest to Duerkes, not out of any dislike of the man, Duerkes was a fine officer with a sound reputation.  No, he was simply distracted by all that lay ahead.

He would have been here without the House War but he knew there would have been a great difference in other circumstances.  He would be here to support Q'olavraH, not just to be seen in public defying K'Trol.  He would possiblty even have entered himself.  He would be relaxed.

Looking to his father he saw that the old warrior was listening intently to the speeches.

He heard Duerkes hand over to his 'blood brother' and turned to look at the Commander of KDB.

He listened to K'Hare and he cursed quietly as though he'd not admit it publivly he knew K'Hare was right.  He had made mistakes in this very contest, when he had allowed his pride come before his honour.  This was a game, not war.  He should never have sunk to the level of Ta'pez.  He should have fought cleanly, though that would have brought defeat.  His pride had blinded him more than once.

He looked down to his hands.  Hands that had broken the necks of traitors to the Empire.  Hands that had choked the life out of a Hirogen Drone.  Hands that had eased friends from this life towards the Great Halls.  Hands that had held the one close to his heart and cradled two tiny babies.  All these things were things of honour, and there were more of them that he had performed over and over again.

He looked away from them as a few examples of what they had done inco0rrectly came to him.  They were few, yet they were enough that when question of the integrety of his House's honour were raised she could not be certain of his innocence.

He refused to show anything of his thoughts on his face.

K'Trol ignored the Federation speakers.  His eyes were on K'rahl and Kur'rk.

He also watched the crowd.  He saw the Komar dog.  Another that needed to be swept aside, he would leave II almost to the last.  He would cleanse them the same day he launched for Qo'noS.

The speeches from the Federation were thankfully short.

Looking at K'Hare when he spoke he was dispassionate.  This one was no use to him.  He would have ben no use if Chang had succeeded either.  In truth if Chang had succeeded this one might have been the current threat to the Empire.  As it was he was simply one step that would be taken after the House War was complete.

Despite the troubles that surrounded them Kur'rk could not help but get inspired as he listened to the speeches.  The two Federation officers built the mood up.

He listened proudly to K'Hare, his old shipmate.  He liked to think of him as a friend regardless of the fact they were nefer truely that close.  He felt a momentary pang, Ta'pez really had been a friend until Kur'rk had realised just how dishonourable he was.

He glanced towards K'Trol.  His enthusiasm waned.

How could he still harbour the thoughts of the wrongs Ta'pez had committed now that he knew what his own Father had done.  What was worse was not knowing what secrets were yet to be revealed.

Certainly evidence pointed towards treason.  What if their fears were true and he was planning a Civil War...

He looked over at Q'olavraH, then to K'Hare.  He resolved to tell them soon of his fears, regardless of what K'rahl thought.  He had ordered him not to interpose on his behalf and he would obey that command.  But if they lost the House War someone must know what he feared was coming next.

Yes, after the Tournament perhaps.

Ta'pez had decided not to show up, or so it seemed to poQ, who had parted ways when news of the dispatch reached them.

The dispatch had brought news of his old commander arriving on the station , a certain K'grath.  Why in particular he had decided to do so now - escaped his understing. But then again, as poQ had to admit, these past couple of days Ta'pez had acted in ways that poQ had not expected.  He probably didnt want to listen to K'Hare on the stage.  I

There was so much to conteplate and so little time.  He looked across the room, the K'rahl and p'Dra'on, the  madness that was brought on with their strife.

"Was it any better then the one that raged among our house when cheng died?" a little voice in his mind. " Or the one that the meH'Handra brought upon themselves."

He mentallyy shook his head and pretended to be listening to the whole thing.

Watching the crowd it was easy to pick out K'rahl and Kur'rk.  He had spoken long with Kur'rk on two occaisions since they had first met on the meH'Haj.  He'd only seen K'rahl once.

Then he saw K'Trol, how could he miss him.  He was surrounded by a number of warriors of the p'Dra'on blood.  The resenlances were uncanny between the generations.  K'rahl varied the most.  Taller, probably stronger than K'Trol had ever been.

Seeing both the Lords od the warring factions in one place was odd, yet at the same time it was not.  This was neutral ground.  They could not enter into open war here.

That suited him.  He could watch them.  He could act when required, unseen.

He quietly left the room as the speeches finished and a slight fracas started after the drunken warrior passed him and jostled K'rahl.

Q'olavraH stood seperate and away from the Klingon groups.  Truthfully she did not even wish to be here but felt it her duty since she would compete.

She waited until the speeches were over, never taking her eyes from those on the podium.

She could feel eyes on her.  She knew K'trol was here and had most likely seen her and so knew of the failure of his attempt to hurt K'rahl that way.  In her mind, K'trol was lucky his attempts had failed.  She knew K'rahl well enough, to know that if K'trol had succeeded in assassinating her that nothing would stop K'rahl from killing him and everyone allied with him.

K'trol was not as smart as he thought he was.

The Klingon female refused to look around, but she kept her senses alert and tuned to any danger around her.  She knew that she was far from out of danger, she did not intend to die here by an assassin's blade.

When K'Hare was done speaking she watched him leave the podium.  She waited until the ceremony was completely over before she moved from her spot and made her way quietly out of the hall.
