<Serenity Base> It had been a year since Ta’pez had not seen K’Grath, since the last year when the tolth had come out to see be part of the Long if not arduous gathering in honor of the meH’Haj and the long service that the proud ship had given to them. Now here he was, once again facing one of the most influential men in his life. For ta’pez a man of incredible self assurance and disregard for those in the admirality of the KDF K’grath was one of the few warriors with flag rank that he respected even revered. It was amusing to him, standing here as he was. Thinking about the fact that he held a post of equal rank and stature as K’Grath when he first boarded the meH’Haj. One meH’Haj CO seeking out his teacher and predecessor. K'Grath admitted his old student, XO, and work in progress. He wore his armor of course, but there were no insignias on it, no rank, no House, nothing to say who he was. "So, another year has gone by... and we are back here again, but nothing has changed." There was an edge to his voice. “Some things are different.” Ta’pez said. “Some are the same.” They both seemed to be speaking indirectly and Ta’pez preferred not to mar this meeting with things where he had not accomplished what was desired. K'Grath let his anger show, or at least, he appeared angry. One never knew with this Thought Master. "One year ago you and K'Hare resolved your disagreements, publicly. And now, this feud has returned." Ta’pez looked at him some what taken aback, K’Grath was the one sharp edge of the sword so to say and Ta’pez didn’t want to cross into that territory. At this moment he was the young tactical officer and K’grath the awe inpiring commander and lord of the meH’Haj. He was tempted to use his gift in such situations but he knew that his teacher had mastered himself that he couldn’t trust his advantage. That had been a hard lesson to learn. “I did NOT start this bout.” Ta’pez retorted, chiding himself for appearing like a school boy. “I spent the better half of the last year aiding him, K’trol would have struck a long time ago if it wasn’t for my ships guarding and supporting the KDB picket.” Ta’pez had to admit that was a bit of a strech, as his forces were meant to intimidate and balance things and perhaps strike at an opportune time – which they had done, though the target had beeen the meH’Handra and not the new house of K’rahl. 'Grath's anger seemed to wash away. In truth, he was simply exerting control of himself and choosing not to show his mood to the empath. "I don't care how it restarted. It stops now. You two will not come to blows." “How am I supposed to do that?” Ta’pez asked somewhat out of step with his usual cool control. “my crew is already clamoring for blood, It will make me look weak not only now but in the future, with the house and my ship.” K'Grath shrugged. "You will find a way... you always do. That is your gift." Ta’pez didn’t like it, not a little bit, but much rode on the support of K’grath, he didn’t want to be out of his favor. “ . I didn’t start it and I won’t add to it – no word will be said on my part .” K'Grath gave Ta'pez a serious stare. "No, you will bring the subject up. You will be angry and you will demand answers. To do otherwise would raise his suspicions and it would be best if this was not looked into." Ta'pez was confused. "I ... I will do as you ask." K'Grath's stare was just as serious but was now almost a challenge. "He will find some answer and you will be satisfied with it. It would be best for all if the source of this was not revealed." It was clear K'Grath knew more about what had happened on the meH'Haj then he was willing to talk about. Ta'pez was suddenly very nervous. Despite his absence, K'Grath was still very involved in the meH'Haj and probably KDB too. Maybe he was also involved in the K'Trol/K'rahl feud. Ta'pez agreed... it would be best if this matter was dropped. "Understood." The silence was awkward. Without warning K'Grath's mood changed and was suddenly friendly and that of an old advisor. "Now, let us drink and you can tell me about this officer of yours... G'Trell." “She is young, idealistic, honorable, reminds me of a certain young officer under your watch a few years ago, just as stuborn.” Ta’pez said, a smirk appearing on his face as he spoke of her. “She has the making of a great officer, both my weHwI’ and Starfleet marines listen to her and follow her willingly into battle. And the two were barely coexisting together when I first had them brought aboard”
